Help! Why is every bottle a struggle???
Hey ladies. My first question. Im bottle feeding my son formula. Tried to Breast feed..didn't really work. Anyway. he starts off taking the botte like a champ..then I burp him.. then he roots at the bottle wth an angry face,,screams and cries..I take the bottle out for a min..then put it back in...he takes it but still wimpering. Every bottle is a struggle. He screams and screams. Is it time to change the formula??? Im thinking it's gas. (I have a dr. appt next week I'll ask but wanted to get your opinions). Has this happened with any of your children. I thought bottle feeding was supposed to be easy!!! Holy cow!!!! TIA

Re: Help! Why is every bottle a struggle???
sounds like DD...she gets very angry when the bottle is taken away from her before she is ready. I used to burp her after every ounce, but as you said, it was a struggle. I stopped doing that. Now I feed her, wait for her to stop sucking burp her then allow her to continue, if she wants. Usually, I'll get 3 burps out of her at one feeding. I've definitely learned to take her cues as to when she wants to be burped. To add, if she has to burp, she won't continue drinking...probably because there's an air bubble waiting to be released.
DD is 8 weeks.

I agree. Try to not stop mid feeding for a burping - wait till the end. Also, are you using Mylicon drops? That should help if its gas - we used to put drops into every single bottle that DS got. Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a good person to give advice since DS was BFed but if you think it's gas you can put Mylicon in his bottles. It's safe to give at every feeding.

Re: Help! Why is every bottle a struggle???
I cry every time I feed my 9 day old son a bottle. He yells, squirms, screams, gets this ugly face. He needs to be burped often, otherwise, he spits up, but he HATES being burped. All he wants is me to give him the bottle back. It is the most frustrating part of my life right now.
Glad to know I am not the only one.

Re: Help! Why is every bottle a struggle???
Thanks ladies I will try and not stop him and see what happens. I used Little tummys gas relief but I give it to him oraly not in the bottle. Seems to help I think!! who knows. I will def buy the other kind though. See what happens.
Im just really tired and frustrated..I dread feeding time. Not to mention he is eating every two hours and not regular amounts.. sometimes he snacks on 1oz sometimes hell take 3. uggg I hope this gets easier.. Im exhausted!!!
