help, where do we move to?
we are having a problem finding an area that we LOVE.
we both grew up on the south shore in nassau. i would love to live merrick - massapequa but DH wants to move East (western suffolk).
I work in Oceanside so I would love to stay south.
We have looked at W. Islip, W and E babylon but where else?
biggest priorities are good schools and a quiet, residential area. under 500k?

I am not from there but have briefly looked there. Everyone on here raves about it. I am sure someone can tell you alot about it or do some searches.

W Islip - decent schools, close to train and Babylon village.
I can't believe he doesn't want to stay south nassau - I LOVE Massapequa Park!

Re: help, where do we move to?
thanks! we have looked at E Islip but not extensively. We will keep hunting there!
Out of W Islip, E Islip and Islip, which schools are ranked the highest? Which areas are most desirable?

we are in massapequa now... he protests the taxes... i cant argue that. we "will get more for our money" in western suffolk.
i did however, find about 6 homes in M. Park that would work and sent him all the MLS links, we shall see

I have to tell you that I don't think the taxes in the Town of Islip are any better. Yes, some (not all) of the property sizes are a little bigger than Massapequa, but not by much. My DH has the same mentality so I can totally empathize.
What about Hauppauge? It's not the south shore but it is in the middle, centrally located with good schools and really good taxes.

Thats where we are looking in addition Smithtown Pines and Smithtown and Commack (but taxes are higher)

Islip is great! Small town feel, actually you can live in some parts of Bay Shore and still be in the Islip school district, same goes for West Islip...you should chk it out.

We just moved from West Islip to Northport. My parents live in Massapequa Park. The taxes in Mass Pk, West Islip or Babylon are not any cheaper.
West Islip Schools are excellent. I loved them soo much more than where we are now. The Parkwood section and South of Montauk are very nice. However taxes can be high as well as homeowners insurance anywhere close to water.
I miss the south shore a lot!!! So much easier to get to everything there.
