Help please - getting new couches and need to donate old ones

I am getting a new lazy boy couch and loveseat and I want to donate my old ones. Lazy boy will not take the old couches. i called the veterans pick up, but they said the couches need to be under 6 feet and outside. They will not come in the house to get them. DH and I cannot move them, especially since i am pregnant. Also, I think one couch may be about 6 feet long.

Any ideas as to where I can donate the couches? TIA

Try Salvation Army....they will come to your house and pick it up. But be warned...the couches have to be in perfect condition for them to take. I had a beautiful, almost new microfiber couch that I had to get rid of when I moved, and they wouldnt take it because it had a small hole in it.

This is a sticky situation. I've tried to donate to charity and they won't take anything that isn't perfect.

You may need to ask someone to help you out and take the couches out and put them at the curb for you.

Heritage for the Blind

My Mom has given to them. They partner with the Leukemia Foundation. She gave them her older bedroom set, that had scratches and chips. And also a couch. They came quickly and no problems about with the condition of the furniture. GL!

Yeah, Dh and I had a big time problem getting rid of ours. We wound up throwing them away because nobody wanted them. I didn't want to deal with the FreeCylce thing.

Just sell them on craigslist. People on craigslist will buy ANYTHING.

Re: Help please - getting new couches and need to donate old ones

I ran into this issue in August - no charity would take them.

It finally worked out that we learned a friend of a friend needed a new couch for their son who was getting his 1st apartment.

Do you know of anyone who would want them?

Freecycle them. I'm sure they will be gone in a matter of hours.
