Re: Help my buy a tv!
Plasmas do not come in 32 which leaves you with LCD. Depending on the size of your room 32" is really big... what size do you have in your room now?
we have a 23" widescreen hdtv lcd in our bedroom and i think anything bigger would be over kill plus a waste of money as we just use it to wake up and sleep at night...

The LCD's last longer. the Plasma's bulbs will burn alot quicker.

research...research... times have changed with plasma's today i think they are equally as good with the exception being picture qaulity...that depends on the manufacture

They may be equally good as you say, but Plasmas cannot be repaired if they break, LCD's can...Therefore I would only buy an LCD tv Scott

What makes you think this?
I personally know someone who got their plasma repaired (same plasma model that I have).

My new plasma has 60,000 hour half-life. Thats about 40 years worth of life if I watch it on average 4 hours a day.

Re: Help my buy a tv!
what size do the plasmas go to?
our master bedroom is very large - right now we have a 32" and could maybe even go a litte bigger if we wanted to
so my only option is an lcd? is sony the best?

Re: Help my buy a tv!
Very expensive. How big are you looking to go? If you have a 32" now... a 40" may not look all that much bigger.

Re: Help my buy a tv!
a 32 would be fine.
from the reviews it looks like the aquos, bravia, or a panasonic would suit my needs.

Re: Help my buy a tv!
I also prefer LCD's to Plasma's. We have a 32 inch LCD in our Bedroom, love it! My mother in law has a 42 inch Plasma in her Living room and has had nothing but problems with it since they got it. They actually want to sell it and get either an LCD or a regular 53 inch widescreen HDTV. Everyone's different though... good luck!

we got our 37 inch sharp aquos LCD for 1988 at pc richards but that does not include the wall mount (100) or the install (about 400) or the extra cables (which you can get for less at home depot or best buy). Lisa

We're shopping for a tv for our bedroom too and we're leaning toward the Sony bravia.

is that so? I got my LCDs a number of years ago so maybe the plasmas have evolved some since then. but at the time when we were shopping around, LCDs were the way to go.

Not bad but pricey.
You can get the Panasonic 50" plasma HDTV (probably rated the best 50" plasma you can get).... for cheaper. Thats almost a foot larger in size.
Ahhh the premium you must pay for LCD.
