help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
so i'm having a debate with a family member about what is proper to wear to a WEEKDAY performance for a broadway show.
please tell me which choice/choices are appropriate for a 7pm tuesday night show
ETA my feelings: i totally agree with no jeans/sneakers to a show!

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
I think nicer jeans with shoes & top on down the poll are fine. Jeans & sneakers have no business at a broadway show imo.

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
well it totally depends.
if I was leaving the house to go to a show, I would dress casual (no sneakers)
but if I was in the city, in jeans and sneakers (although I very rarely wear sneakers but I do wear them for a long day in the city for the comfort) and I happened to get tickets last minute, I would still go !
I dont think what youre wearing should hold you back from going, but I also dont think you should intentionally be bummed out to go see a show..
does that make sense ? did I go off on a tangent ?

I voted for Khakis/Nice Blouse. IMO it doesn't matter what day it is, it's nice to dress "nice".

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
I like getting a bit dressier for a show--not necessarily a skirt, but definitely pants, nice shoes, etc. I would never wear jeans, no matter how nice, and sneakers go without saying...

Pants and a top, or if it was nice weather/temperature, a skirt and cute flats. I would never wear jeans to Broadway. (Plenty of people do, I just never would.)

I wouldn't wear sneakers to a Broadway show. Jeans now can be dressy, so you can wear those. But as long as you look nice (skirt/nice pants/nice jeans), I think you're fine.

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
When I was younger people always got dressed up to go to shows. It's not that way anymore.
I think for a Tuesday night nice pants and shoes would be fine - although I'll bet you'll see plenty of sneakers there.

I voted for that too. I like the less formal look of the jeans but with dressy shoes and top to make more dressy.

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
I've always worn jeans, nice shoes & a nice top. When I saw Wicked on a Wedneday night that's how most of the audience was dressed as well.

We saw Wicked on a Tuesday night at 7 - we both got dressed - no jeans or sneakers. Nice pants, shoes, etc.

Jeans are fine as long as they are neat and paired with a nice shirt. Sneakers are a no no.

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
I personally would just wear my street clothes to go to a Broadway show, why would you get dressed up unless you were on a fancy schmancy date night?
I am just curious.

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
I have worn everything from nice jeans with a nice blouse with shoes/boots to skirts or dresses- all depends on when I am going, if it were a planned evening...etc.. BUT, I have never worn sneakers or "day/casual" jeans-

Re: help me settle a debate regarding broadway shows
Sneakers and jeans are too informal for a broadway show...you are always supposed to dress it up a little, even if its khakis and sandals...
with that being said..you are PG, you can wear whatever the F you want! LOL! Don't sweat it!!
I would wear sneakers on the way there and put on sandals outside the theatre. Problem solved!
