Help me figure this out....

According to mymonthlycycle.com my average cycles is 35 days...so they are figuring my most fertile time to be between Dec 22 - 26....but this is averaging for the last 8 months which started with 28 days and now is 41 days.

My last three months have been 40, 39 and 41 which would make my average 40 days which would make my most fertile days Dec 27 - Jan 1.

My DH has a crazy schedule and there is no way we can bd from Dec 22 to Jan 1...which should I consider my most fertile days?

Re: Help me figure this out....

well, why would the website tell you your cycle was different?
You should get some OPKs, they are pretty accurate.

Good Luck!

I used MMC and they gave me different days also. I like Fertility Friend better. Maybe just try some OPKs and chart your CM. HTH

the website is taking into consideration the last 8 months...when I got off the pill my first 2 cycles were 29 days then it was 33, 31, 40, 39, 41.

When do I start OPKs, how do they work? I'm on CD 9 today.

My dr instructed me that after my next period to start using OPKs. She said I should take the first test on day 10 of my cycle and to BD when the test indicates that I'm most fertile and ovulating.

where do I get them?
Is there one that is better than another?
Are there more than one test included?
Is there a specific time to test?

Thanks girls....sorry for all of the questions

You can get them at any pharmacy (CVS, RiteAid, etc....)

My Doctor gave me the name of the one she recommends (I have it the name at home, but think it's the Clear Blue Easy)

I'm not sure about how many tests are included I haven't purchased it yet as I have not seen AF in 2 months and have no idea when she's going to show. But I think it may include enough for a week.

As far as the specific time, I'm not really sure.

I have to laugh because I'm the kind of person that gets stressed easily and I was afraid to start temping and taking tests for that reason but I want expand my family...so I have to do whatever I have to do...but I'm going to try to take it lightly!

I never wanted to chart temps either but now it's part of my daily routine. OPKs get expensive. A few of us on here have bought them from the Dollar Tree. Good luck and ask as many questions as you want.

Also, you may want to try reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler (?sp)

Re: Help me figure this out....

How do ovulation predictor kits work?
Available at drugstores and grocery stores without a prescription, ovulation predictor kits detect the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) in your urine just before ovulation. They're easier to use and often more accurate than the BBT method, and they can predict ovulation 12 to 36 hours in advance and help you maximize your chance of conception the very first month you use them.

But they're not foolproof. Rarely, they can measure LH (you get either a positive or a negative result, not a number), but can't indicate whether you ovulate after a positive response; LH can surge with or without the release of an egg. False LH surges can also take place before the real one.

For maximum accuracy, follow the kit's directions to the letter. However, if the instructions say to test your first urine of the day, you may want to test your second catch instead. Your urine can become concentrated overnight and might give you a false-positive result.

Your cycle starts on the first day you have your period. If you have a 28-day cycle, start using the test on day 11 and use it for six days, or however many days the manufacturer recommends. If your cycle runs between 27 and 34 days, your ovulation may range between days 13 and 20. Start testing on day 11 and continue until day 20 or so. If you have an irregular cycle, you may find that this is the least satisfying way for you to detect your ovulation, because some of the kits — which range in price from $20 to $50 — provide only five to nine days' worth of tests. You may need to buy more than one kit a month.

Based on the above...when should I start testing if my cycles have been average 40days (last three cycles)?

My OB told me to start testing day 10 of my cycle (right now, I'm at CD61 with no indication of AF showing up)
