HELP! DS HATES the car(seat)

DS screams bloody murder in the car unless he is sleeping. I have tried music, shaking the car seat, talking/singing but nothing works for too long. He's usually ok when we first take off and then a few minutes later, it's game over and the pacifier obviously falls out. I have pulled over and went back there to soothe him, but sometimes I feel like that wastes more time and I can't do that on the highway. If I'm with DH, I can climb back there, but most of the time, I'm by myslef. Unless he falls asleep, 9 times out of 10 (lately), he's misery and it kills me to listen to it. Any suggestions?

have you tried finding a static radio station and turning it up pretty loud? The white noise used to soothe DS.

DD HATEDDDDDDDDDDD the car. She would scream as I was even putting her into her car seat. I dreaded going anywhere with her b/c I knew it would be a torturous ride.

It lasted about 2 months then one she randomly stopped and has been fine since.
Not sure why she was so bad those couple months but she just stopped over night. literally

It will get better!!!

I asked the Ped what I could do when shes screaming in the car and her response was "just turn the radio louder" lolol not much you can do

A friend's daughter hated the car and would scream until she bought this mirror that has lights and plays music - it was like magic, no more screaming.

you can set it for 15, 30, 60 minutes

I also wanted to add, what stopped my son from screaming in the car seat was after I strapped him in, I took a receiving blanket, folded it in half and tucked him into the car seat as tight as I could. Go figure, right? It's worth a try!

my DD was like that so i took her out of the infant carrier and put her in a convertible. it helped some....

she would see the infant carrier and start screaming.

This thing has been a lifesaver, my DS will literally stare at it in amazement for the entire car ride! Its really cool anyway and you can hook it onto a bassinet, swing, etc. I literally use it for everything and it gives me more time with whatever I am doing.

Hopefully this is just a stage like pp said

my DS HATED the car seat as well. He would scream bloody murder every single time we were in the car. It wasn't until recently (like 2 weeks ago) that he stared to be more content in the car. It only took 5 months!!! He has a few toys hanging from the bar and he enjoys looking out the window. I hated driving with him becuase the crying was so nerve wracking. I never bothered to pull over because it would just prolong the ride and make the screaming continue longer. Hopefully it is a phase for you too!
