Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
Dd won't eat any meat and won't eat any of our go-to foods for any meal. All she'll eat is a little yogurt, carrots, cheese and a little pasta and some fruit.
I'm so worried she's hungry and not getting enough nutrients.
Please suggest some foods I can try. TIA

Re: Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
My older 2 went through this at the same age and slowly the baby is approaching the same thing.
Honestly, it's not something a first time mom likes hearing, but when they are hungry they will eat. I would just keep offering. Kids will not let themselves starve .

Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
Omg..DD is doing this early for us! She is living on meatballs and pizza..I had to go back to the veg pouches for her to eat veg with me..at daycare, she will no issue..I just keep trying all different things and I swear everyday it's something else..our dr. just ok'ed peanut butter as a protein and said those peanut butter cracker sandwiches are ok so those have been a meal already once...I think it's just patience and what PP said...I know if she's hungry, she'll eat..I also find she likes freeze dried fruit lately, mini (not big) pancakes and waffles and fresh watermelon, cantaloupe and strawberries..good luck!

Re: Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
DS is 14 months and will sometimes have picky days. On these days he exists on his favorites- yogurt, peas, string cheese, and strawberries. I keep offering him new foods, and 90% of the time he will like it after the 3rd or 4th try. I have gotten him to eat eggs, tofu hot dogs, mango, spinach, applesauce, and meat this way, among other things.

Re: Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
My 16 mth old will eat anything, but I was trying to remember when this happened with my 3.5 year olds! They went from eating everything to practically nothing. They are kind of getting better now. They will eat if they are hungry! I like to give sun butter or yogurt for protein since they don't really eat meat.

Re: Help! 18 month old has become a very picky eater
Sorry but I hate to tell you that they all go through this stage - it will pass. They will eat when they are hungry so don't worry. Try a bunch of different things - I found when I gave more variety that worked better - but I always had the staples of what they liked as back up. Maybe try a variation of something that they like. DD used to like grilled chicken cutlet - but she stopped eating that - and now LOVES chicken drum sticks. If she likes pasta - try making stir fry - I used to make my girls this - but now they really don't like pasta. I would put in broccoli, onion, green beans and carrots and dice a boneless chicken breast. A little low sodium soy sauce and lemon juice. You could replace the pasta for rice too if she would eat that. Do you give her plain things? Maybe try adding a little spice or something to change the flavor a little bit.
