helmet question
We got DD#1 a tricycle last year but realized she was too young for it so we kept it in the box and will give it to her for her 2nd b-day in May. I never had a helmet in my life (before I ever got on DH's motorcycle, on the motorcycle of course i wear one) and lived on my bikes as a kid. However, I know today things are quite different and my neighbor's kids always wear helmets on their 2 wheelers with and w/o training wheels and on the sidewalk not the street.
Question is, does my soon to be 2 year old need a helmet and secondly, can you recommend a store/web site to purchase a helmet for little toddlers? I have googled a bit and most are for ages 3 and up. I know I was on a tric by 2 years old, I can't see waiting another year b/c I can't find a helmet.
TIA!

Re: helmet question
I would definately get a helmet....Even though they seem close to the ground, thats all it takes really ...It also gets them used to the idea of wearing one for when they do ride their big kid bikes and they associate the two together .....My DS won't even get on anything outdoors with wheels without asking for his ....We got my DS's at Toys R Us and they have a decent selection ...
ETA- Helmets come w/ these foam thingies that make the helmet tighter...I would try tthe one for 3 and up on her if you have trouble finding one because it may just fit !

ITA on all accounts. DD is 2.5 and wears one on her tricycle when it's just us pushing her in our driveway...I want her to know (which she does already) that it's a MUST when on a bicycle.
I believe MIL got it at Target, fits her great. Go there or BRU and try them on her.

Re: helmet question
We bought DS the Giro Me2 helmet when he was 18 months and he is now 26 months and it fits great. I got it at a bike store here in NJ where they fit him, but I believe onestepahead and amazon both carry it.

Re: helmet question
At this age, definitely go to a store to get one, don't order on-line, since you'll definitely want to try them on. Any store that has biking/sporting goods will have them. TRU, Sports Authority, Sears, Target, Walmart, bicycle shops, etc.
