Heartburn/Indigestion

I have never had heartburn or indigestion in my life, but for the last 3 days, I *think* that is what I am experiencing and it is not enjoyable.

Do you take Tums for it? Are there foods that I should avoid?

I had this really bad with my pregnancy, pretty much any kind of food caused it but anything with alot of acid like tomatoes citris fruits, and also spicy foods made it worse. I kept Tums everywhere, home, work, in the car and they did help.

My doctor said to stay away from acidic foods and fatty foods. Midwife suggested papaya pills.

Uggh, I feel your pain!! Sorry you're experiencing it! Definitely avoid acidic and citrus foods. I LOVE Tums Smoothie flavors. They are awesome and so creamy and less chalky tasting!

Re: Heartburn/Indigestion

I had this with my first pregnancy and I'm sure I'll have it again. I also never had heartburn in my life until I was pregnant. Tums were definitely a lifesaver, especially in the middle of the night when it would wake me up. I tried not to eat late and also tried to sit upright for a while after I ate and that seemed to help a bit. My doctor said it was ok to take Zantac 75 and I did use it, but only when it got really bad. For all other times, Tums usually did the trick!

Heartburn/Indigestion

During the last month I couldn't even lay down. I had to sleep practically sitting up. The moment I would lay down within seconds I had heartburn and reflux. Dd was born with a full head of hair so maybe there is some truth to that wives tale. I slept with tums on my night stand. Dh would hear be in the middle of the night popping tums.

Avoid the following
Orange juice
Apple juice
Tomato sauce
Chocolate
Coffee
Garlic

I have pre-existing heartburn issues and my dr said it was OK to take my prilosec. I'd be lost without it!!

I had heartburn during all my pregnancies but in the last one it was absolutely unbearable. Zantac was the only thing that helped.

I have had it so bad the past last week...it is worse then when I was pregnant with DS. I have been chugging milk like there is no tomorrow. I also take tums...they help a lot.
