Re: hcg levels

if i am reading your post correctly, you had blood taken thusday morning and friday evening - less than 48 hours apart??? (closer to 36 hours it seems)

hCG levels are supposed to double every 48-72 hours - that was WAY too soon to send you for another blood test, IMO. i am sure your baby is fine - and i would speak to my doctor about that Chat Icon

ETA: i just re-read your post - at this point in your pregnancy the hCG levels aren't even suposed to double! that only happens early on.

see this link:

hCG levels

did your dr say they should be doubling? those #s look great!

Re: hcg levels

My hcg levels did not exactly double when I was 6 weeks either. It freaked me out too but my doctor said that since the #s were high anyway, that it was normal for them to not double. Chances are still good if you just saw the HB. Think positive! I am sure it is all ok. Keep us updated!

Edit: I just read headoverheels' post and she is right! You need to have 2 days between the bloodwork!!!

Re: hcg levels

sorry guys for being such a confused lunatic - - - LAST friday May 9 it was 13,600 and yesterday morning (May 15) it was 24,000 (i am 7 weeks 1 day)
i just read this - -
that it could take 4 days to double ----

"From 1200-6000, the HCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double. Above 6000 IU, the hCG often takes over four days to double. So, the rate of increase in HCG levels normally varies as a pregnancy progresses. Normal HCG values vary up to 20 times between different pregnancies, however, and an HCG that does not double every two to three days does not necessarily indicate a problem with the pregnancy. Some normal pregnancies will have quite low levels of HCG, and result in perfect babies."
that makes me feel a little better... my number a week ago was 13,600 so its def over the 6,000 IU.....

Re: hcg levels

They did not double but like H over H said once levels get above 6,000 they can take 4 days to double. So you would be fine. The only thing you can do is wait it out and think positive thoughts. Good luck! I bet everything is fineChat Icon

Re: hcg levels

I just had my levels checked this week (I'm about 8 weeks) on Monday they were about 82,000 and Wenesday they were 89,797 - they are no longer doubling but still increasing. My Dr. said that everything looks good.
