Hawaii or Ireland?

If you had a choice, which one would you choose to go to? Why?

Re: Hawaii or Ireland?

Ireland bc I have been twice but DH never has an he is Irish American, also I have cousins in Ireland.

Unless I could go for 2 weeks plus..the Hawaii flight seems too long for me.

Hawaii. I've never had an interest in going to Ireland and I love tropical locales!

Tough one...if you put me on a plane and didn't tell me where I was going, I'd be happy landing at either one! Sorry...didn't help!

I equate Hawaii to going anywhere tropical (but never been to Hawaii myself)

I have been to Ireland and I can attest to it being a gem. Like I cried when I left. I could have packed up and moved and lived there forever and never looked back.

From the food.. To the people.. To the landscape .. The culture... I say go to Ireland.

Hawaii or Ireland?

Two very different climates. Do you want to lounge on beautiful beaches or do you want to explore ancient ruins? I LOVED Ireland. Like pp said I didn't want to come home. But I'm dying to go to Hawaii. It's beautiful, tropical and I LOVE beaches with crystal clear water.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with either.

Hawaii -- I like to be lazy on vacations. Give me a lounge chair, ocean view, and a drink with an umbrella in it.

Ireland would be amazing, but thats a much more active sightseeing type of trip.

Re: Hawaii or Ireland?

I'm kind of in a similar situation.
My family is Irish. I really want to see where I'm from. Last year we visited Bangladesh and I got to see where DH is from.
But one of my best friends lives in Hawaii and I haven't seen her in years.
I'd like to see Hawaii one day...just want to cross Ireland off my list first.
I don't know if kids are something you are considering...I do have friends who did Ireland pre-kids and Hawaii once their kids were a few years old.

Eithee way, its not a bad problem to have ;) having to pick between two great vacations!

Hawaii!

After living in a place with not enough sunshine and no beach close by, I'll take Hawaii!

I have a bunch of family in Ireland so that will always get my vote. I don't think you can go wrong with either place though!

Just back from Ireland! Was totally blown away! Far exceeded my expectations.

We have also been to Hawaii and loved it. Did 4 islands on a tour. Dying to go back.

Hard to help you because they each have unique characteristics. I'd say if you love being active (hiking, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, beachtime) do Hawaii. If you like touring, history, natural wonders(Cliffs of Moher oh!) plus some city time (Dublin) do Ireland. Although Hawaii has some natural wonders too (Haleakala, Kiluea, Na Pali coast)

Hawaii, only because I've been to Ireland and because of DH's family in Ireland, I'm sure we'll be going plenty more in the future! We might even go again next year!

This is how I feel about Hawaii. Chat Icon I've never been to Ireland (and do REALLY want to go), and neither DH nor I is a beach person at ALL, but we've been to Hawaii twice and would go back in a heartbeat. The beaches ARE spectacular, but they're far from the only thing to do there -- we found everything else. We always say that Hawaii is literally perfect. (The weather is for sure.)

Like many others have already said -- I can't imagine you could go wrong with either.

Hawaii because I love the beaches, the warm weather, etc.
I don't think I'd be a fan of the climate in Ireland

Re: Hawaii or Ireland?

My personal choice is Ireland. It's one of the most subtly beautiful places I have ever been, and there's NO shortage of things to do/see.

That being said, it really depends on the TYPE of vacation you are looking for. If you love warm weather and lazy days...Hawaii is the way to go. If you want breezy (sometimes rainy weather) with a lot of activities...I 100% say Ireland!

Re: Hawaii or Ireland?

it really depends on who you are and your type of vacation. If you want to sit on a beach or go hiking/bike riding through a forest then hawaii is the place. Everyone I know who goes there that is not a beach person hated it, people who love the beach or adventure hiking/biking people loved it.

ireland is more overall - got your tours, bike, adventure, history, night life/music, more cheer and personable.

Re: Hawaii or Ireland?

Tough choice, but I'd pick Hawaii.

I've been to both and love them both but in different ways. Ireland is definitely a more historical and active trip.

Hawaii is great because you can be as active as you like (hiking, kayaking, scuba, etc.) or as lazy as you want (lying on the beach reading a book).

I've been to Ireland twice - Hawaii 5 times. I'd go back in a heartbeat to either one but if I had to pick, it's going to be Hawaii.
