Having major hair drama..

So as my previous topic stated, I want to leave my hair dresser, so I can't ask her any of the questions I'm about to ask here because I don't want her to know I'm leaving just yet.

So here's a quick summary of my head of hair:

It is highlighted and I recently touched up my roots (two 1/2 months ago)

I had the JHS done 4 years ago..had a bad experience, wouldn't do it again.

I had the Brazilian done late last year. I still had some frizz and I wasn't happy how it came out.

I have tight, kinky curly hair naturally, so leaving it 'au naturalle' is not an option for me.

I didn't want her to do the Brazilian on me, so I had her touch me up with a chemical relaxer on my roots (on the roots and only on the frame of my face. She did not go into my hair and do the entire head). This was two months ago.

So, needless to say, my hair has been processed and I feel like a slave to it.

Now, I need to do something. Blowing my hair now is a task. Somedays it comes out straight, but most days it still has some frizz and is poofy and I HATE it!! I also have a 15 month old so I don't have time to do my hair everyday.

Knowing all of this, and knowing what most of you know about the Brazilian, would you attempt it?

What I want to do is start over. I want to color my hair light brown (on my own) wait a few weeks, and get the Brazilian done. Then after that, I will eventually put the highlights back in my hair.

Now, that's what I want to do, but do you think it's a wise desicion?

HELP!!!

Re: Having major hair drama..

I know it sounds extreme but I would go to a salon that specializes in color and treament correction. My hair was destroyed from hair dying and color from another salon and was literally many colors and fried, the salon i went to in queens saved it and gave me the best advice on how to fix it...the salon is located in queens and altho $$ it was worth it to get my hair back to what i wanted..

i wouldnt start taking it into ur own hands, go to a salon that knows what they r doing and can corect what needs to be done..u dont want ur hair to fall out

ITA if your hair is really damaged a salon expert would help to bring your hair back to healthy again.

Re: Having major hair drama..

If you feel that your hair has been damaged, then I think that your long term goal should not include both a straightening chemical and hi-lights. Is there anything that you might like that uses your natural curl even a little bit? I have a toddler and I am glad that my current hairstlye is not one that has to look perfectly neat the way that straight styles do.

My hair is weather oriented. If I leave it curly (which I don't for work) it takes me as much time to get it "right" as it does when I blow it out.

I know that you can do the brazilian with highlights. I googled a bunch of websites last night and they all said the same thing. I also consulted with a hairdresser who told me that then you have highlights in your hair and the follicles are open (because of the bleach) the keratin will take even better to your hair.

I'm just going to wait it out and see if I can find a style that will work for me that won't kill my hair, not make me look like an idiot, and won't take hours to work with.

Are hi-lights your only color? If you color the base and then add hi-lights then I think you are in for some damage if you also add a straightening process. That's the thing I really would not do. To clarify, there are people who do all of these things and more, but if you felt your hair was damaged, then I think you would feel that way again if you had a lot of processes. Is there a place that you absolutely love for a great cut? That could be just the answer.
