Divorcing your hair dresser..
So how do I do it? Just not go anymore? Say something?
I have been going to the same person now for 4 years, and realized that it's time for a change. My last cut did nothing for me, and looked nothing like the pic I showed her. It's like she only knows one look for the most part, and I want to change all of that.
Not to mention, I did the Brazilian at her salon last year and it came out NOTHING like some of the pics I've seen here. Ive seen some befores pics and some hair textures were similar to mine, so on top of everything else, she made me feel like I wasted my $$.
She' s nice person who works hard, but I just thing that it's time to move one.
So, ladies, how had you cut the cord with former hairdressers?

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
I am going through a divorce with my hairdresser now :) I'm just making an appointment elsewhere. She actually made it easy for me because she changed salongs AGAIN! She's gone back and forth between two salons a few times now and it's just ridiculous at this point! It's too far for me too. I'm getting my hair cut at a new place Monday and I'm very nervous because the other woman knew my hair pretty well, but lately I wasn't that happy with how my hair was looking. I felt rushed when I was there too.

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
I just went thru this. I was charged an arm and a leg for services I found out she did not do- she told me I got a full head of highlights, charged me for it, and it was only half a head of highlights, I needed a new cut after 3 weeks etc.I was beyong Pizzed!!! I now look at it this way, I was the one who was shafted, it is my money and she stole from me. I did not look back, and just found an amazing new hairplace. HTH

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
I have now had to leave 2 colorists (and now I do my hair at home with the same results!). I just stopped going in.

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
I stopped going.
Every time I went the prices were different but I was getting the same thing done everytime. One time it was $140, then it was $110 when the price went over $150 I knew it was time to leave. The divorce was very fair I got to keep my money and she got to keep her dye luckily we didn't have any children or pets.
Now I got to a friend of mine that has a little hair studio in her house. I pay $50 and my hair is the best color it has been in a while.

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
For previous hair dressers, I just stopped going.
For my current hair dresser, I've been going to her for 10 years. I used to go once a week to wash/blow my hair and every 2 months would color.
I didn't divorce her, but had a trial separation after I got myself the MaxiGlide flat iron and realized I could straighten my own hair on my own, at my leisure, and save the money. I just would go to her to get my trims/haircuts along with color.
I think I'll be seeing her less now that I dyed my hair on my own and like it - I'll still go to get my haircuts though. If I wanted to fully divorce her, I would probably just stop going (although I'm sure she'd call me on my cell eventually to figure out what the heck happened, lol!).

Re: Divorcing your hair dresser..
I just stopped going as well - the first time was more for the fact that I was leaving the area but, the other times were due to unhappiness.
I did go back to my old hairdresser from high school to do a trial for my wedding and she did a horrible job so I divorced her again.

Oh, when you said you did the brazilian, I thought you meant bikini wax and then I thought, OMG, people posted pictures on here? And hers was not as good? Poor thing! Well, I am glad it's not that!
I have gone to the same hairdresser on and off for 20 years. He always knew that I sometimes got my haircut in the city and sometimes by a friend who is a hairdresser from her home. I just told him that I could not get to him. However, I recently followed one of his employees to a new salon that he opened. I have not said anything. I went to the new guy because I liked his reputation and wanted to go to a new shop. I didn't contact the old one or anything and I can't see him being happy that I went to the employee who left and started his own shop. I did tell the new guy where I came from.
