Have you had a flu shot?

How many of you ladies have had a flu shot? My doctor said today that I was supposed to get one (had no idea). And even if...everytime I get that dreaded shot I get sick even worse, so whats the difference?

i believe they highly recommend it for women giving birth during flu season...

i personally did not get one....but i have never gotten one and my doctor did not suggest that i do.

i got it
it inoculates the baby for 6 months and is highly recommended for anyone giving birth between November and march

i was actually going to ask this today bc i was at my doc yesterday and i saw memos posted in the office, that the doctors recommend women who are pregnant to receive the flu shot.
i never got one, is it for women who give birth between nov & march?


hmmm im due in august so does that mean i can skip it?

I had one in my second trimester, but I work in a hospital so I come in contact with different people constantly.

I usually do get one but I didn't this year!! I'm due in June

i did for both pregnancies...just to be on the safe side

I decided to get one despite all the controversy. I decided that it was more important for me to take care of myself and my baby than worry about the what-if's

The recommendation is that all pregnant women get the flu shot b.c the flu can be dangerous for pregnant women. Now having said that, there are a lot of moms on here who don't get it despite the recommendations for one reason or another so it really depends on what your personal comfort level is.

I got the shot (my OB made me wait until I was out of my 1st trimester) and he gave it to me (he has the thimerisol free version). I got it b.c I have seen what happens when pregnant women get the flu. It doesn't protect from all strains but it does from certain ones. I look at it that if I can reduce my risk 50 or 60 or more % than it is worth it to me. But you need to do what you are comfortable with. You might just be one of the unlucky that gets the strain not covered in the past when you got the shot. I admit I didn't get the shot for a while, but since being pregnant with DD I got it then, last year and again now b.c I'm pregnant again.

I got it in Dec, made my dh get also. Baby is due in feb, so was more afraid of someone getting the flu after baby was born. No side effects on any of us. DD had also.

I got one b/c of work, the baby is not due until beginning of july. I did get the preservative free shot though.

No, I decided to pass on it. I've never gotten the flu or the shot so I figured I'll be fine.

No, didn't get one, never have and Dr didn't suggest it.

I had mind and it was strong suggested by my ob. I also work in the hospital setting so it i felt it would be very beneficial to the both of us. Good luck.
