Have you ever played matchmaker?

OK, so I am just curious to know how many people have ever tried to play matchmaker... and if so, was it successful or not?

I've tried it a few times.....never worked out though. They'll usually go on a few dates and decide there was no chemistry, etc.

I've seen a few matchmaker success stories so I always have hope !!

Yes in the past. I hate setting people up. Recently I gave in and tried hooking friends up and it didnt work. I retired again.

i have.

one was in HS--they married and were together for the past 10 years. unfortunately i got in contact with them again, and they are currently separated and probably filing for divorce.


the other time i set up someone--my sister dated the guy for more than a year....they were all set to move in together, and it fell apart.

I set up my BF and Mike's BF. They dated for 2 1/2 years but ended up splitting.

DH and I were set up by friends. That worked out pretty darn well - 10+ years later

I did--I set up my little sister (from my sorority) with one of my Best Guy friends from college...they are now happily married!!!!

Yes, I set up my very close friend with my then BF's cousin. 8 years later-- they are married and have 2 kids!

I was the MOH!

Yes, I am always setting up my BIL.

I also got him together with my cousin. They started off really good. She got pregnant and so they moved in together. They were about to get married and one day she tells him that its over. It was really sad.

Since they have a DD together they are respectful and friendly to each other.

DH makes me swear that I will never play matchmaker again and I said I will...with my fingers crossed behind my back.

WOW, I am surprised so many people have said yes... DH and I are bringing 2 people together tomorrow night and I am actually nervous! We've never tried this before so we will have to see how things go!

yup!! we met a girl who worked at teh starbucks we go to every night... she worked there at night and was a bookeeper during the day....
we set her up with one of DHs friends from college. That was 3 years ago, and now they're engaged and getting married this august! DH is the best man

we also just set up another friend with a guy DH works with... so far, i think they're getting ready to go on their third date. the first date lasted 3 hours, so thats a good sign too early to tell wtih that one though...

I'm in the process of doing it. I'm trying to set up a coworker of mine with my nephew.

I'm not sure how it will work out but knowing the two of them, if it doesn't work out it will not be a disaster.

Not really me but DH... he set up my best friend with his best friend. Now they are married and just celebrated their first anniversary.

I was nervous, but it worked.
DH and I set up DH's best friend with my cousin!
They will be married 3 years this July
DH, Myself and my brother were all in the wedding party as well.

Yes, but mine didn't have a happy ending. My sister requested an introduction to my then-bf's partner at work.

They were too much alike, I didn't think it was a good match but I did it anyway.

The BF and I broke up and I found out from my sister later that he had been cheating on me.

Then my sister and the guy got engaged and married! That was mighty uncomfortable, dealing with the ex that I vowed never to speak to again.

P.S. they got divorced a year later. Now my sister is married to the best guy ever and very happy.

yes and I've had mixed results......a long time ago I set up a good male friend of mine w/ a friend of my ex-boyfriend at the time we were dating....they dated for 3 years!! but then sadly broke up! but they still remained friends until he started dating a psycho and since then he's removed himself from any circle of friends he used to be with. sad.

a female friend of mine, any guy I've tried setting her up with has failed miserably! she got married 2 years ago, so I don't have to try anymore! lol

Yes and I am pretty good at it. The last couple I set up ended up getting married and now have two kids. I used to enjoy setting people up but now all my friends are pretty much taken or married.

My SIL and my best friend are dating because I hooked them up! Going on 3 or 4 years now.

My good friend Drew met his wife through me - although i wasn't trying to set them up.

Two more very good friends started dating after I invited them to a party together.

I also had a couple of friends that I tried to get together.. but they didn't get the hint and never wound up hooking up.

Now I have almost no single friends left to mix together!
