Haunted Houses or Adult Halloween Fun
I would like to find something for DH and I to do for Halloween (without the kids). I would like a haunted house or something along those lines. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on something fun for the adults to do around Halloween? Thanks!

There's the Scream Park in Bayville. I've heard that's great!

If you're up for the trip, Lake Compounce in Bristol CT has a great one.

headless horseman in Ulster Park
It is a little bit of a drive but SOOOOOOOO worth it! My friends all used to take a trip up there prior to kids every year! Sometimes we would make a weekend of it and do apple picking nearby the next day on the way home
But is is def BY FAR the best experience I have ever been too!
If I remember it was about 3 haunted houses, a haunted (DARK) corn maze, and a haunted hayride...INSANE..all real people and awesome make-up!
Definitely worth every penny

Omg I went to this a few years ago, and I was freaking out.
It was a very long line for a very short walk through though.

I am such a chicken but I could definitely enjoy this. It's like I hate to be so frightened but I still seek these crazy experiences!

I went to the Bethpage " Carnevil" last year on Halloween night and OMG It was AMAZING! Me and my husband are still shaken up by it , it was that realistic and scarey! We are seriously too scared to go back lol We were a bundle of nerves after walking out of there then follow that by a drive on the infamous Sweet Hallow Road

Make a day out of it and head up to Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow. They do the whole place up for Halloween complete with haunted hay rides, tours and other events. They actually take Phillips Manor and turn it into a whole haunted attraction.
Also consider doing something like Bloodmanor or Times Scare in the city. I've been to Bloodmanor a few times and it's great. It's done by theater and production specialists who take people's darkest fears and incorporate it into the haunted house.

I agree! I went to Blood Manor a few years ago and it was sick! I nearly sht my pants! I am considering doing that again but I also wanted to see what was closer to home. I actually never heard of Times Scare. I am going to have to look into it.

If you really want a scary as hell experience, try this in NYC. Blackout
It will seriously eff with you. You have to go through it alone...
I did it last year. I felt like it was a badge of honor.

Rules 1.YOU MUST WALK THROUGH ALONE. 2.You must be over 18. 3.Stay on the marked path at all times. 4.You will be prompted to do certain actions. Please do exactly as you’re told. This is for your safety. 5.There is absolutely no speaking allowed inside. You can, however, scream as loud as you’d like. 6.Do not ever touch the actors. 7.Do not ever touch the walls. 8.You must wear a protective mask and carry a flashlight at all times. (We will provide both of these items for you. Please do not bring your own.) Stay where you are, remain calm, and someone will come to get you and bring you out. Once you call “SAFETY”, there are no refunds and there are no options but to leave. Please be aware, you will encounter: FOG – STROBE LIGHTS – COMPLETE DARKNESS CRAWLING– STAIRS – LOUD NOISES – WATER PHYSICAL CONTACT – SEXUAL and VIOLENT SITUATIONS

That IS one of the top places in the country. It's considered one of the most haunted places in America and they sell out of tickets fast. My friend went and she said it was fantastic. Imagine walking through an empty, abandoned prison that has tons of reported paranormal activity all decked out for Halloween?! Some have said that they've experienced things that wasn't a part of the actual Halloween production.

This sounds sick! I could never, ever do it alone. If I could go in with one more person maybe... but I am such a chicken!
