Halloween Friday Fun
What was your favorite costume as a child?
My mom made me a pink princess dress when I was 6 that I loved.
I very clearly remember being Dorothy in nursery school and carrying toto in a little basket.

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
My mom made my costumes when I was a kid and I loved them. My favorites was when I was a genie one year and another year when I was a 50's poodle skirt girl. I have a twin so she made two costumes in two different colors. I still have no idea how she found the time with 4 kids and also working.

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
My parents would never buy us costumes, they always made them. I was a mouse , a smurf, a clown, a pumpkin, a baby, a cheerleader, snow white, and a punk rocker. I wish I could remember more, but my costumes always came out so cool.

I was punk rocker for YEARS!
It was an old costume of my Moms. It was brightly colored and I added a funky wig to it.

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
my best halloween costume as a child was "a woman"... my mother would correct me and say "gypsy".
i was allowed to wear as much of my mother's costume jewelry as i could fit on my body lol, i was allowed to wear lots of blue eye shadow (late 70s), i was allowed to wear my mom's skirt and high heels (yes, my mother has tiny feet)
oh, and i wore red lipstick!
i thought i was the coolest thing since sliced bread trick-or-treating in that getup.

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
It was a Spanish senorita costume......black and red with black sequins. It was my only store bought costume as a kid EVER. My mom always insisted on making them.....but my grandmother talked her into buying it for me. I wish I could still fit into it

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
When I was younger I was a jr bridesmaid in my aunts wedding. Being that it was the late 80's (maybe early 90's) my dress was one of those infamous puffy shoulder disasters.. my grandma made it for me.. and of course I loved it! That year I wore it for halloween as a princess bride and I still remember loving it so much even more then lol

Re: Halloween Friday Fun
My mom made me an angel costume that I loved. I wore it a few years and now it's in DD's closet waiting for her to be big enough to fit in it. My mom doesn't still have the wings and halo that she made but I can recreate them.

My mom bought a box... wrapped it in Christmas wrap.. Punched holes for my neck & arms. And I wore a bow on my head.
I went as a present!

I loved being a gypsy! I did it in 4th or 5th grade & again when I was 29 or 30!
My best costume was probably when my dad made me a into a box of cheerios, but I didn't want to wear the cheerio hat he made me (too far, dad. . .too far) & sitting down was hard. Fortunately my best friend was a traffic light, so she couldn't sit down either.

Really? I always wanted to be Jem or Barbie or Strawberry Shortcake!!! When my kids were old enough to tell me what they wanted to be, they could be anything they wanted!!!! I'm living through them and loving Halloween now!!!!!

A little girl in DD's 1st grade class was a home made Smurfette today. Great costume!
