has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I have picked up a couple things but it seems like many people have complete wardrobes already.
I feel like my dd's size didnt really change that much over the summer.
i cannot even think about boots and sweaters yet, but I am also the person who tends to have finding bathing suits b/c i wait too long....

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

Well DD just had her 1st b-day party last week so she got a lot of fall clothes, some winter as well. Im going to have to supplement and buy her boots, a few sweaters, etc. But we got a good portion of her stuff already.

Im like you though, I cant shop that far ahead. Oh and I was just at Macys yesterday making a last ditch effort to buy a bathing suit... yea, they had 2 small racks left. FAIL. lol...

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I bought pretty much his entire wardrobe for fall/winter because I got such crazy deals. All items for under $10 each (except shoes and jackets). There are some things like dressy clothes for the holidays that I will buy later on, but all the day to day clothes are almost bought.

I havent bought anything.

I'm a little afraid of a growth spurt in the next month or so. So I'm holding off for a bit.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

No
I have no desire to look at that stuff.
No thanks.
It's still summer.
Plus I have nowhere to store it.
So until her summer things come out of the drawers- there is no room.
And honestly- it's still hot in Sept
I HATE rushing the seasons.

NOPE!
I refuse to even look.
It is still summer and I am holding on to every minute of it!!!!!!
I can not stand winter.
For DD's birthday she got a ton of dresses and pants with short sleeves. I feel if I pair these up with one of her sweaters or light jackets that will carry her through September (like a PP stated, it is still warm in September and sometimes beginning of October)

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I have picked up some stuff here and there at garage sales, and plan to get more next week at a Mom 2 Mom sale. What is left to buy we'll get in Sept when we go to Gymboree for her holiday pj's and outfits. It's a tradition with my mom....Sept- holiday pj's and fall/winter clothes, and in April spring/summer clothes.

Nope, I'm still in summer mode.

My mom has picked up a few fall things for DS though so if we have a cold snap, he'll be ok!

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

Thankful that Troy fits in a few things from last year, so when I did some fall/school clothes shopping, I only had to get a few pairs of jeans and sweatpants.

I will need to get a winter coat, but will wait a bit for that.

I feel like I am patiently (Chat Icon ) waiting for a growth spurt and have to buy more new stuff anyway

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

My mom bought his entire wardrobe last spring. We guessed his size and it looks like it's going to work out for us. She got most stuff on clearance. She started on next spring/summer already!

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

Only picked up a few items and all my one thing was on clearance with additional % off and I used a coupon. But I will start soon. The clothes go so fast and if I wait too long there will only be spring/ easter clothes to buy.

ITA with every word of this! I get so upset when I see back to school sales in the summer. I'll probably buy winter clothes in October, or whenever the first cold day is.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I finished DD's fall/winter clothes in July. I just bought a couple cute sweater dresses from ebay and im done. I hit the fall/winter season sales in spring for fall/winter so I don't have to spend much. I have already started on spring for next year.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I picked up 6 shirts and a pair of jeggings at the outlets this weeek - but was not a fan of any other clothing they had out. She also got new sneakers and a pair of MaryJanes.
We already had some pants and skirts - I think we are set for fall, but will need more stuff like sweaters and boots for winter. Plus we need a coat and snowsuit still

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I wait until it starts getting cold...that's when all the fall items go on clearance bc they are putting out winter things.

I'm a clothing procrastinator.

No, I haven't even looked yet! I still don't know what size to get him. He is 8mo and all of his summer clothes were 9M and they still fit him. IDK if I should get all 12M or some 9M and some 12M. I'm going to hold off a bit.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I bought a couple of hats that I'm going to return. I can't tell how fast this kid is going to grow and I ended up with 3 winter coats last year because he outgrew them like crazy. I'm not doing that again. I'm just going to wait till last minute for the big stuff, and little stuff pick up here and there.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

I have started shopping and am almost done.

My kids have
winter coats
fall coats
polar fleeces
DD has a puffer vest jacket
Each have 6 pairs of jeans
DS has 1 pair of sweat pants (I need another pair for DS)
DS has 1 pair of swish pants
DS has 1 pair of cargo pants
DS had 1 pair of chinos
DD has 2 pair of velvet jeans
DD has 2 pair yoga pants
DD has 3 pairs of chinos in various colors
DD also has a few dresses and rompers

I have about 7 long sleeve shirts that are new and a few from last year that should still fit each kid. I need to go through them to see what condition they are in and if they fit. I will likely pick up some more as the seasons progress depending upon size needs. I generally like to have about 14 shirts and 14 pants for each kid. My kids have stayed in one size for a year so it needs to last from September-May.
I got DS new sneakers and dress shoes today.
DD has new sneakers and I need to find cute dress shoes for her.

DS and DD both need dress up outfits for the holidays and a few weddings coming up in September.

On my to get list for my kids is:
sweat pants
suit pants
suit jacket
2 dress shirts
2 dresses for DD
Dress shoes for DD

I got everything on sale or as hand me downs. I don't like to pay full price.
I have done zero shopping for myself.

I bought a few fall things, but he still has a lot from when he was born. I did buy a jacket and sweater. But I don't know what his size will be by Nov/Dec, so it is hard to buy early.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

Not really, my twins will fit into the same clothes they were wearing in the late winter/early spring, and I have DD1's hand me downs for DD2. Chat Icon I'll have to get them coats at some point, probably.

Re: has EVERYONE started shopping for winter clothes?

Yes, I buy when everything is clearing out. DD is pretty much the same size at her age so its easy. I got 2 snowsuits (carters), a pea coat (gap), and winter jacket(oshkosh) for 54 bucks total last year after Christmas (I'm still really proud of my deals. I'm now buying summer clothes for next year. I do buy somethings along the way if I really like them but most of her clothes I buy in the off season.
