Has anyone rented a house in the Outerbanks or Hilton Head?
Can you help me on how I go about doing this? Our family wants to have a reunion there next summer but I have no idea where to start.

DH's familiy rents a huge house in the outer banks every year. They do it the last week or two in August b/c rates drop drastically as NC kids go back to school before NYers. There are tons of realtors that handle rentals online- just google "outer banks rentals" and you will get a lot of info.

We go to Kill Devil Hills, I think. It's right next to Kitty Hawk. It works out well b/c it's not too far down the banks for those who are driving down. It cuts a few hours off the drive....
Some people fly into Norfolk and its a couple hours south of there. I can try to find the name of the place for you if you want- it's actually three huge mansions on the water. They always end up renting out two of them, I want to say maybe 7 or 8 bedrooms are in each. They each have pools, hot tubs, outside bars, media rooms, pool tables, etc. It's a lot of fun!

We rented a house in the Outer Banks 4 years ago. We got engaged there. It was beautiful. The one we rented was located in Duck. It was right on the beach, had an inground pool, and lots of room. It was kind of a pain to get to though. We drove from NY, but our friends flew and it took almost as long. We have been to Hilton Head too and I thought it was easier to get to. We flew into Savannah and it was a half hour drive.

We rented in Nags Head last year and it was awesome. We stayed in the Village of Nags Head. You can get a house with clubhouse privledges and go to the pool/beach and there is a cafe there. It is perfect for families.

Another Corolla renter here--this will be our 3rd year. We've used this rental co. twice. The houses are ON the beach...you walk down a short private boardwalk...
Corolla rentals...
The same is true of our house this year...we're using this company...
More Corolla rentals...

Another Corolla renter here! I haven't been back there though in years. When I was with my ex, we use to go every summer & meet his entire family there. We always had a beachfront home. We use to drive & even though I don't mind long car rides, it seemed like forever.
Now my DH's family does a week reunion in Hilton Head & like another poster said, it is a lot easier to get to! We fly right into Savannah & you can fly direct into Hilton Head Airport (with a change in Charlotte). We do the condo rentals though & we find them much better. Everyone has their own space but we are all in the same building. We stay in Palmetto Dunes....

my parents actually own a house down there that they rent out. Their house is on cape hatteras, in the town of avon. is a national seashore, so its preserved and its not as built up as some of the other areas ( duck, nags head, kitty hawk). but, there are still a bunch of great restaurants, places to rent jet skis kayaks,etc. if you're looking for more "action" though definitely stay in duck, kitty hawk or nags head...
my parents rent their house through sun realty www.sunrealtync.com.... but there is also hatteras realty, surf and sound reality, midgett realty.. good luck and have fun!!! its a gorgeous place!! let me know if you have any questions!

We rented a 3 bedroom townhouse in Hilton Head this year. We stayed in Palmetto Dunes - Queens Grant. It was really nice, clean, we stayed w/my sister & her husband. The layout was great.
Palmetto Dunes provides shuttle service to the beach. You can rent bicycles, etc. We went the first week of June and the weather was gorgeous.
