Has anyone had a prolapse?
So i confirmed with my dr last week that i am having a prolapse. Its not horrific like some of the pictures ive seen online, but it feels like my insidey parts are falling out. It seems to be getting a little better since i first realized what it was. He said to do Kegels to help strengthen my pelvic floor... otherwise the only way to fix it is surgery. I was reading online that kegels alone arent going to help that much.
That you have to really strengthen your core since everything in that area is connected. Basically it said its a full body problem not just a pelvic floor problem.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this. I searched and found a lot of old threads. But nothing really about fixing it.

Re: Has anyone had a prolapse?
What type of prolapse do you have? Did they grade it?
I have a grade 2 rectocele, which more or less means that the rectal wall is falling into the vagina. My prolapse is in my body, but I can still notice it at times.
I have seen a gynourologist for it and she was pretty much like - yours isn't that bad. I felt like she more or less blew me off.
I have also been to a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor therapy. I went for 5 weeks. She had me perform various strengthening activities as well as stim treatment. I believe I have improved my strength, but I am continuously working on it. I also have the video Hab-it, which provides you with a variety of activities. The good thing about the therapist is he/she will make sure that you're engaging the correct muscles and not overcompensating with your abdomen/butt.
If you have any questions, let me know. This is actually the one thing that makes me nervous about having another child as I do not want it to get worse....
ETA: With time, it will most likely get slightly better on its own. Are you breastfeeding? Since this affects hormone levels, your prolapse will most likely lessen once you stop or so I've been told - I'm still BFing.

I stopped breast feeding when we got home from the hospital. i also heard that too, but my boobs have been leaking almost every day since then. Shes almost 6w old.
I found a lot of stuff on line, i just got an exercise ball to use for some of them. But id rather see a dr instead of reading stuff online, even though you confirmed what i read lol. What dr/PT did you see?

Re: Has anyone had a prolapse?
I am not on LI so I can not help you out there. It can take a while to get an appointment. Mine took like 3-4 months for the urologist and 2 months for the PT.
Kegels are a start, but make sure you are only engaging the pelvic floor and not your abdomen. I do three different sets 4-5 times a day. I do 10 quick releases, 10 where I hold for 10 seconds, and then 10 more quick releases. You also want to strengthen your hips, abs, and back. The Hab-it video has it all.

Re: Has anyone had a prolapse?
My doctor said the only way to fix the problem long term is to undergo a hysterectomy. Any other repair will most likely fail over time. I decided to just deal with it.

Re: Has anyone had a prolapse?
I do- I've had a vaginal wall prolapse since I had DS. My OB is monitoring it and thinks I will need surgery to fix it but since we're not sure if we're done having kids we're waiting. Not really doing anything to try to fix it other than kegels.

Has anyone had a prolapse?
My mom had a prolapse and I'm pretty sure she had to put orogesterone cream in her vagina... It helped for a while but she ended up with a hysterectomy in her late 50s early 60s.
