Hardwood floors
Got an estimate of 15,000 to put down oak floors and a railing for about 600 square feet. Is this normal? It seems crazy (especially since old tile was going to be removed prior to installation by us).

Re: Hardwood floors
Seems very unreasonable.
$3420.48 for the flooring from lumber liquidators @ $4.99 /sqft

Re: Hardwood floors
I went to their website. It is 25 dollars for them to give you an estimate. Did you use them? '

Re: Hardwood floors
No But a friend of mine bought the flooring from them and installed it himself. $25 for what if you don't mind me asking? They have a calculator right on their site.

Re: Hardwood floors
It says for them to come and give you an estimate. I would need them to install it.

Re: Hardwood floors
That sounds like a mistake. I think I paid around $2,200 for my oak flooring, $1,000 for installation and $2,500 for an oak banister. The space is half of one floor of my house so a decent size.

Re: Hardwood floors
I thought so also! Do you have a company you recommend?

Re: Hardwood floors
O'Brian Floors in Baldwin. The owner is so nice and stayed in my house during the job. He also stained by banister and all of the floors in other rooms in my house.
Stairbuilders in Hempstead for the banister. They dont stain it though.
I got my wood flooring from Gold Coast Flooring in Hicksville. They guy there was rude but I love the floor!

Re: Hardwood floors
I can't speak to the bannister part but that is not a lot of flooring. That estimate seems extremely high.
Long Island Paneling has a great selection of floors and they can recommend an installer. Check them out.

Re: Hardwood floors
Try Gold Star Floors too. Many people have used them for refinishing. We did too but they also had to add pieces to our floor since we had walls removed.
