Hardwood Floors

We are getting construction done to our house and part of that is getting hardwood floors installed in the upper level of our house. We already have a light oak wood floor in our main floor (the living room and dining room) and the floor we went with for the upper level is a better quality but we tried keeping around the same color. Well- they installed it yesterday and its not close at all Chat Icon
Is it going to look bad if we don't have the same color in the entire house? I'm worried about this Chat Icon

Re: Hardwood Floors

A lot of houses have different color wood. What is the stairs covered with?

We have a very dark bamboo in the dining room/kitchen area, and a very light bamboo in the office. They are separated by a carpeted living room. The stairs are pine, stained to match the bamboo, and the front doors are fiberglass, made to look like oak. It all works nicely together.

Re: Hardwood Floors

I would think its fine. Kind of the same as when most people don't put the same color carpeting in their entire house. I think it adds more character.

I agree. It's impossible, really, to get an exact match on wood floors since every batch of wood is so different. Even more so when you are dealing with original, or older, wood floors and installing new wood floors.

I don't think everything needs to be matchy/matchy, especially since the different floors are not in contiguous rooms. It's a whole separate level of your house.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.
