Happiest Baby?
Did anyone try doing the techniques of "The Happiest Baby On The Block?" ... Do they have a DVD?

Re: Happiest Baby?
It's funny you mentioned this-- I am on bed rest and bored to tears. I didn't feel like reading but I had my mom pick this up at the library for me the other day. I'm hoping to watch it this week and if I like it maybe I'll read the book next.

Lol I'm not much of a reader either... That's why I was hoping the DVD would be good haha

Re: Happiest Baby?
we watched the DVD and thought it was interesting. I have a few friends who use these techniques and swear by them. Interested in seeing the responses here.

Re: Happiest Baby?
DS had colic so I swear by the 5 S Steps. I'll reread the book as I get closer to my due date.

Re: Happiest Baby?
i loved the five steps. . I did read the book which I found really interesting but def the DVD can get you all the critical info with a lot less theory. . I def think it's worth it and unlike a lot of stuff out there, there's not really anything controversial about it, like you don't find something that contradicts it since it's just soothing techniques.

Re: Happiest Baby?
One night when dd was inconsolable, I broke out the happiest baby on the block book that my friend lent to me. I swear by it ever since that night.

Happiest Baby?
That was my bible with my first dc and I am not one to adhere to all the nonsense, but this book is wonderful!

Re: Happiest Baby?
The "shushing" actually worked well to soothe DD

Happiest Baby?
I know I am in the minority but I found the book really boring and had someone just told me what the five S's were I would have skipped it. I feel like he just explained the same thing over and over throughout the book and it is mostly common sense that a baby would find things they experienced in the womb to be comforting.
DS isn't really a fussy baby... but on the few occasions he has gotten upset "shushing" and "swinging" work very quickly.

Re: Happiest Baby?
Yes, I used them and they work! DS loved white noise (shushing), his swing, his paci (sucking) and the swaddling. DS was a GREAT sleeper and a very happy baby! Not sure if the two were correlated or if that was just his temperament, but I am definitely trying it again with baby #2.

Happiest Baby?
Tried it with DS and it did not work. Others I know swear by it. I think it depends on why the baby is crying.

Happiest Baby?
I read the book but watching the DVD helped make it more salient for me. The "shushing" definitely worked for DS! But he hated swaddling.
I wish Happiest Toddler on the Block was on DVD too.
