the worst is telling my dad when he called to wish me a happy birthday that DH hasn't acknowledged it...yet. Asked me what our plans are..well we didn't make any since we're trying to take a vacation soon, but hey...it's still my birthday....say something!!!

No, I'm very good when it comes to DW's b-day. Sometimes TOO good. If we are getting gifts for each other that year (we don't always, but we agree to it well in advance), I will tease her for weeks about what I got, but I never tell. She's always very happy with whatever I've gotten her. It's usually something she mentioned months ago that I actually listened to and remembered (YES, some guys actually LISTEN and REMEMBER what DW says....  )
I'll send her a few e-cards during work. It doesn't have to be something huge like jewelry, but a bunch of little things throughout the day make her happy.

he called me 30 minutes ago and said nothing...
then he said he wants to go out for dinner...
because he's hungry and didn't have lunch...he casually mentioned my birthday...
I called him out on it.
he said he was too sleepy in the morning and he was swamped all day at work.
That's lame!

Awwww. I understand. I get really mad if the first words out of DH's mouth on my birthday aren't happy birthday. I'm very sensitive about it. One time, we were driving to work, and he still hadn't said it, and I started to cry.

he just called and made reservations at a place on Lex..he wants to walk from B'way..I told him that he can wear my 3 inch heels.

just thought I would update
We went to Haru last night and had a nice meal..two glasses of champagne. He gave me some cards which were really nice.
Got home around 10. that was it.
I didn't even want to go out, but he didn't have lunch and didn't want to wait to go home..
I told him I thought it was lame though. No cake, no flowers and some lame excuse for not saying Happy Birthday?
I'm still upset. Everyone else in my life that is important to me reached out. (that knew)
Pfftt...he must have brain damage..

I'm really sorry. I just sent you FM (though just saw this now). Something about March 18, I think. My DH was slighted by his family yesterday in a big way...

don't want to sound mean, but there may be more to this than meets the eye
It just doesn't sound right. I mean, everyone's busy at work, so I can understand the lack of the cake or a big presentation.
But how hard is it to wish someone a happy birthday and get a card?
Not to be a psychologist, but you've had a lot of family stuff this year and it's taken up alot of your time.
I'm not defending his actions, but maybe he feels left out/resentful and this is his way of lashing out.
I dunno - it just doesn't sound right
