Ground Zero

Has anyone been to the site?

Lately? I'm thinking of going when I come into NY in 2 weeks, Not to sound strange but I'm curious and I want to see it

I have been there. The irony of the whole situtation for me is that that part of town now has so much sunlight since the towers are down. Those were two huge buildings. I feel a very strange sense of loss. I used to enjoy driving to the city. Since 9-11, I miss the skyline of my birthplace.

I ran the Tunnel to Towers Run this past September and visited the site after. It's the first time I'd been there since 9/11. It was terribly upsetting and I started crying and ended up walking away.

I used to work a block away, and I did until 2004.

I've driven past it on the way to the Seaport but haven't gone to the site. I'm sure one of these days I will.

I had a delayed reaction to 9/11. The enormity didn't hit me until a year later. Picking the day to go would bring back way too much emotion.

I've only been there twice since 9/11.
both times were very upsetting.

I would never be personally be able to go as a planned event.

While I was not directly involved as in being there, nor did I loose anyone in those attacks.......my "involvement" was as a funeral director handling the remains or memorial services of many who died there. I have no desire to see where those poor people suffered.

I can ALWAYS vividly remember what I had to see looking at the firefighter & the people who worked in that tower looked like after the attack.......something MOST people except the rescuers did not have to to see

I went there a few years ago, when they had the life size dsiplay of people who worked there and their experience on how they either went to work late, or got out alive in Rockefeller Center.

I've been there a bunch of times since 9/11. it's awful

I worked as a mental health counselor during the aftermath, from 9/13/01-7/01/02. I've been back on the anniversaries. It's weird for me. It was my whole world while working there and now I feel like an outsider looking in. I'm not really sure how to explain it.

hands down, the most incredible experience of my life next to childbirth/marriage

I was there a few months ago and I just sat there and reflected for a moment. It was very strange and sad at the same time.

because of who i work for i had access to Ground Zero immediately after. i went down there while they were searching and it was THE MOST EERIE feeling in the world. the quiet, the pain, the anguish, sorrow was too much to bear. i've been back a number of times and the feelings are still the same. i used to look at the towers each morning, now i see nothing but emptiness. doesn't matter how much time passes, those feelings will never change.

I was there in Dec. 2001 after it happened and to be there with thousands of other people mouring and paying their respect was such a moving experience.

There's really nothing to 'see' - It's an empty space in the middle of downtown Manhattan - The towers are gone. It's a big, empty hole and it's horribly depressing and upsetting and just a constant reminder of how awful it all is (as IF ANY OF US COULD WOULD EVER FORGET) -

I can not wait for them to just rebuild the damn thing !! -

I've said it before, but my DH worked in Tower 2. He barely made it out alive on 9/11.

Sadly...he still works 1 block from Ground Zero so he is reminded of that horror every single day of his life.

I was just there this morning.

Such a sad, dismal ambiance in the air at the site.

I have not been there - but my sister took my cousins from Italy there. They were very respectful but they asked her to take pictures of them standing in front of the site. She refused, but she didn't know why really - she felt it was wrong.

My aunt and uncle are coming in a few weeks and they already mentioned going to visit - I want to go with them but I am not sure where I stand on the whole "picture taking" thing.
