Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
My sister booked a room at GWL for her family next week and wanted me to bring DS who is almost 4 months up for a day.
Would you take your 4 month old in the water? If anything I would just be dipping his legs in. Im not really sure if there's a "rule" for this.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
I am in the minority when it comes to GWL, but I HATED it when we went last year. The pool is super chlorinated and the smell gave me a bad headache. I went last year when I was PG and I regret ever going. I didn't even go in the water and my eyes were blood shot. As soon as you walk into the hotel you smell the chlorine.
I would never bring a baby in there, but there were a lot of people who did. We went with 2 other families and they also didn't like it. There kids were a little older than mine and were able to go on all the rides.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
We went when my oldest DD was 7 months and she did sit in the water and splash. The only reason we went was because my BILs and SILs were going with their older kids; honestly, we couldn't really do anything with DD. Then we all went back the following year when she was 19 months and even then she really couldn't do anything.
But as far as getting out of the house and hanging with family, I think it's fine. My younger DD was born in May and was in a chlorinated pool a handful of times that summer.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
I think the issue with a place like that is it's indoors- so as with any indoor pool- the cholrine smell becomes overwhelming because it is trapped inside with nowhere to go. I had no issues with taking DD in our backyard pool when she was a few months old- not really immersed or anything- just got her feet wet, etc...but we have a mineral sanitizer that uses very low levels of cholrine and again it was outdoors.
I think the fumes would be my main concern at an indoor place.

i agree with PP's...the indoor aspect with the chlorine is what would worry me. too much for a little one to breathe in. I would skip it.

I've been there a couple of times, and don't recall a strong odor. I wouldn't bring a 4 month old simply because there is nothing for them to do at that age.

I've never been to Great Wolf Lodge but I do know that a 4 month old can't do much.
If I were you, I'd go to hang out with your sister if you don't see her often. I wouldn't expect for your 4 month old to get anything out of it though.

Re: Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
I personally wouldn't put myself or my 17 mo old in the water at GWL so I certainly wouldn't put a 4 mo old in...that's just IMO thought. Those places completely skeeve me out!

Re: Great Wolf Lodge with a 4 month old
I would just be driving up for the day to spend time with my nieces and nephew. Im only 45 minutes away from the one in Willamsburg, VA. I dont plan to go in the water myself but DH might and he may want to hold DS and see how he reacts to the water (he LOVES bath time).
Good point on the fumes. I guess I will make that call when I get there. If its too bad, I can always walk around the hotel or hang out in the room.

No way. You can easily pick up water bourne viruses, etc, esp in a place like that and 4 mths old is pretty young to deal with something like rotovirus, etc. I would never. JMO

yes my DD had coxsackie at just 8 weeks old...I believe that's a water/summertime virus. I don't recomment putting your 4 mo old in...even just his legs.
