granite installation questions
We're going to be putting granite countertops in our kitchen. we will be keeping our existing cabinets.
1) did you have to remove the old countertops? (one place told us we are responsible for this)
2) did they require you to get a new sink? (same place said we would have to buy, not necessarily from them, an undermount sink)

When we had ours done in our NY house, the granite place removed the old countertop. I also bought a new undermount sink (not through the granite company) and they installed it for me.

When we ours done, my brothers demoed our kitchen so they removed the counter top and we purchased a new sink from the granite company.

Sorry to butt in but I am also getting granite installed soon too.
Is there a special type of sink that you must use with granite? I didn't know this.

This isn't a requirement, but I think it looks nicer. There are sinks that can be mounted over granite like they are over any other type of countertop.

The contractor removed the granite. The marble/granite company installed the granite and we bought the undermount sink from them and they installed that too.
