Grand Juror Summons...&@$%!!!
Just got one in the mail today for Nassau County...I am beyond mad!!! I already postponed it once, so I have to go down there now & plead...
Problem is, I work for a small company of less then 10 employees. The company I work for is a subcontractor for the US Military & we have direct contracts with the War on Terroism. There is no way I can miss up to 4 weeks of work bc there is no one for my replacement. My boss just told me he is going down there with me kicking & screaming...
Plus, how the heck do they think you are suppose to survive on $40 a day??? That is $800 a month!!! I guess my mortgage won't be paid
ARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Here is an idea to get out of it. Talk to yourself and drool. They will think you are nuts and will never pick you. That usually works when you don't want people to talk to you on the subway. Give it a shot.

Re: Grand Juror Summons...&@$%!!!
I got one for Brooklyn (and I live in Suffolk) and I still had to go in. For Federal, it was only one day per week, and you called the night before to see if you were needed. There were usually some cases scheduled, but often we'd get there and find some had cancelled and we'd get released early. I was still screwed because of the long commute and train schedule, but if you have a similar situation you may be able to get into work for a half day. They also would allow you to request to be excused if there was a particular need, ie: when we had a national sale meeting scheduled they let me skip that week, but I doubt they would let you get away with that on a regular basis.

I'd pay good money to see that.

If your job has less than 10 employees you can get out of it. It says so right on the summons. I just got called to Riverhead but postponed till October.

I looked on the Summons & it does not say that. It just says that if your company has less then 10 employees you will not get paid through your employer...I might call & see or just go & explain the situation...
