Got wierd postcard in mail?
It says
test of backflow devices are mandated by the State of NY Department of Health. Your last inspection was 10/20/08. Call xxx for appt.
It is from a plumbing & heating company.
Is this BS?
The company has an address on my block???

It's for your inground sprinkler system. You have to have them inspected every year so they can see if there is any backflow into the neighborhood.
They should have provided you with a bunch of companies that do the service.

I got them blown out last year and will do again shortly is that the same thing? They do test them too.

No not the same thing. When you blow them out that's to winterize them correct? no. they check something different.

I never had mine inspected, and never got a notice from anyone.... we had them for 14+ years (previous owner had them installed). They're gone now, but with all the inspections we had last year, sprinklers were never mentioned....

Check your Town Ordinance to see if you need it every year or not. If not, the company is probably just trying to drum up business.

Just called my sprinkler people and they said you would get a letter from your water company if it was needed. I have Aqua and haven't received anything...so I am ignoring this.
