Got another brain buster for you guys... UPDATE
So, I am on vacation right and I just threw some HPTs in my toiletry bag. I had two target tests (manufactured by Clearblue Easy). Again, they are the blue ink plus/minus tests. For those of you who remember from last cycle, this is the kind that gave me either my false positive, or was the only test that detected a chemical. They sent them to me for free, when I called to ask/complain about my results.
So, I am 11 DPO today and I took them both. The control line came up on both, pretty dark. But in the test window- on both of them-- I got a *very* faint "l" but not the "-". Now, I thought that at the very least, the "-" would show up, as that would need to be present to show a negative result. So, it's weird that it didn't show up at all. And with the "l" of the positive sign showing up, although extremely faint-- I just don't know what the hell to think. It's basically like hardly anything showed up in the test window.
Thoughts? I know it's early, and I have had a bad experience with these tests anyway-- so, I am not putting too much stock in it.
UPDATE OK-- so I just got home and I was looking at the instructions for the test and i was totally wrong.
The tests were both regular line tests. So, all I needed was the second line to show up-- NOT the "+" sign.
SOOOO, that means I got two BFPs. But, I have my period. Could this have been another freakin' chemical for me???

I never used those tests, but it sounds like you may have gotten a batch of defective tests.

I've never used those tests. I read on peeonastick.com that the +/- tests are the most unreliable ones out there, so I never buy them.

I'd chuck em and go out an by different tests. Those are just not accurate enough.

I agree - if you really think you might be pregnant, go out and get another test that's more reliable.

Re: Got another brain buster for you guys...
yeah-- I only had these tests because of what happened last cycle, so I am not putting stock in them. I don't trust them and it seems to be a very weird result.

Sorry I have nothing really valid to add except for that I sympathize with how frustating this must be, and am keeping faith you get the BFP once home.
Enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!

Randi - Call your doctor and ask to go in for a bloodtest! Is it a full blown period, or more like spotting? What cycle day did it start?

It sounds like it could have been a chemical. Is your period like a regular period? I think you should call your ob/gyn & see if you can get a blood test to be sure of what's going on. It's possible for you to be still pregnant.

Well, I have this crazy dark brown spotting thing going on-- which basically started at like 5DPO. Based on when the blood turned red, I marked my period as starting at 12 DPO. So, now today, I am 16DPO or CD5.
I think it's my period, but now it's pretty much done-- and my period does tend to last a while. I really don't think I am pg. I also was traveling, so I was not paying as much attention to everything.
I just took two more tests after reading those instructions-- which I just looked at cause I was unpacking. Waiting for the results, but I have had a lot of tea and water already. ETA-- both BFN.

I would still call and request a blood test to check your beta levels. It sounds like your LP is on the slightly shorter side, so that's something to talk to the dr. about too.

I am going to an RE in two weeks-- so, is it even worth it? When I had this same issue last cycle, my doctor just told me to go to an RE, so I am not sure what she is going to do for me now. I feel like I just need to wait it out til the 14th with my RE appt.

If you got 2 BFPs, i would definitely go to your DR. and request a blood test. IMO, you shouldn't have to wait until your RE appointment to get an answer on this. If there was a questionable BFP, thats a different story, but 2 BFPs? I wouldnt let the Dr. dismiss you.
How frustrating!

I definately agree with this. Having this info also might be helpful when you meet with the RE.

Re: Got another brain buster for you guys... UPDATE
Ok, I just left a message for the nurse at my doc's office. I don't think there is anything they are going to do for me at this point, considering I am seeing the RE in two weeks.
Last cycle when this happened-- my doc just said that there was no way for us to know what happened. So, I assume it's the same thing this cycle.
Also, I have no other early signs of pregnancy at this point. I did have sore boobs, but no longer.. the only other thing is that my skin is broken out a bit and I feel really fat and ugly, but that's probably because I ate my way through the coast of Southern California.

Re: Got another brain buster for you guys... UPDATE
So I just spoke with the nurse at my doc's office... and she told me what I basically already knew. I would still be getting positive HPTs at this point, if I was still, or shall I say *really* pregnant. So, I just need to sit tight and talk to the RE when I have my appt. And that chemical pregnancies are very common, and most people don't know when they have them.
