Goodie bag ideas
DD is turning 5 soon and we invited her classmates plus cousins. They'll be around 25 kids coming.
What do I give to each kid?
Don't want to spend too much but don't want to give some gift that the parents will just throw out either.
Any ideas? Did your child receive a good gift lately from a party?

Re: Goodie bag ideas
Is there a theme to the party? I always like books, coloring books, crayons, sidewalk chalk, pencil cases and pretty much stuff they can use. Most everything else gets tossed.
We had a superhero party and I gave out the foam water shooters from Five Below. We had a Minion party and got a Despicable Me book from Walmart I bought in bulk,
Shovel and pails are always good. I keep them in the closet and take it out when we go to the beach. If it breaks or we forget it then it's not a big deal bc we have so much and they're inexpensive.

Goodie bag ideas
I may be the only one, but I'm not a big fan of edible favors for a kids party just bc they're usually overloaded on sugar as it is.
I prefer the book idea or something along those lines.

ITA I like the idea, but then I bring it home and they're already sugared up so I put it away and half the time forget about it and wind up tossing it. If I remember then it's usually they're dessert. My boys are picky though so most of the time they don't like fancy cookies. This is JMO though. Again, I always tell people do what's best for yourself. No one is ever gonna be 100% happy so as long as you are and the kids are there for the party anyway.

I totally agree with this. Usually its just a fight between me and DD bc she wants to eat it at the party and i say no. Then it gets put away and pretty much forgotten about!

I much prefer the edible favors. I haaaaaate when they bring home junk from birthday parties and it gets thrown out that night. Or alternatively litters my car like it's a dumpster!

Re: Goodie bag ideas
We just did cotton candy for DS's party, along with a craft from the party. The sticker on the cotton candy was customized to the party's theme, along with his name and bday age.

Re: Goodie bag ideas
If you're looking to stay on a budget, then a coloring book from the dollar store or one of those plastic re-usable favor cups with the characters on them. We use both in our house. I find edible favors for kids can get expensive and kids don't appreciate them any more than a five cent lollipop.
