Good summer activities for an 8-11 month old?
Is the Bronx Zoo, Atlantis, etc. worth it at this age?
(I am so ready for the warm weather and I am totally planning ahead right now!)
What else would you recommend for a baby of this age on Long Island?

Re: Good summer activities for an 8-11 month old?
DD is 10 months old and I can't convince DH to spend the $$ to go to Atlantis (looks like it's about $22 per adult). He doesn't think she'll get anything out of it. I'm not sure I agree, but I guess $50 is a decent amount to spend for her to get the same experience she gets at BIL's house (he has a HUGE fish tank).
For some reason I feel a little differently about the zoo. If it were warm I'd definitely take her there now. Even if she doesn't really "get" it yet, I'll still enjoy it. If nothing else it can't hurt getting them out there, used to seeing people, traveling, getting a change of scenery, etc.

You can get a pass for pretty cheap that includes the Bronx Zoo. NY Aquarium, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and Central Park Zoo.. It pays for itself in a couple of trips. I am all for taking the little ones to these places.. I think she will be fine and will enjoy seeing different things. And you will enjoy it too!!

Re: Good summer activities for an 8-11 month old?
DS is almost 10 months, and I think he'd love the zoo. He loves out cats like crazy, and I think he'd get a kick put of seeing other animals so close.
IDK what Atlantis is, but if it is like a big fish tank, I think he'd like it too.
I do think with a kid so young, admission price has to be worth it for YOU to pay for - if it is a place you detest or think it is too pricey, then go somewhere else. Your kid won't know any different.

For that age, I would continue going to places that you enjoy. Go to a museum you want to go to, go to a resort you want, etc.
I had the hardest time convincing DH to go to kiddie places when DS was 15-17 months. I did drag DH to Dutch Wonderland, Sesame Place, White Post Farm, petting zoos, etc.
I think 8-11 months is too young though. My 10 month old likes walking around the mall. He looks up at the decorations. He also enjoys children's museums. The children's museum has exhibits geard towards baby/toddlers though.
I took older DS to the children's museum when he was 8 months old. Total waste of time and money.

Both places are free, you are just paying for you, so I say if YOU enjoy it, go.
