Going off the BCP Question
Is going off the BCP as awful as everyone makes it out to be? I get mixed signals from people, some who say that you should wait a while before you TTC after going off the BCP and my obgyn who says to start trying immediately.
any thoughts...

Re: Going off the BCP Question
I think people say to wait so that your cycle becomes more regular and ovulation is easier ot detect...but i dont think anything is wrong with trying right away...but Im no expert

Agreed. The only reason I've ever heard to wait is just to make it easier to track your cycles, after you see a pattern for a few months. If your doctor gave you the go ahead, I would listen to him.

Re: Going off the BCP Question
i dont think going off BC will be awful...i think everyone has a different experience with it. if you had irregular cycles before BC then once your off BC then you will still have those same issues. that was my situation, i never had a normal cycle before BC.
Some people have longer cycles after BC...i would use an OPK to track when i O and !!
good luck!!!

Re: Going off the BCP Question
I've heard it takes 1-3 months to get out of your system, so TTC any time during then might not work, but it'll be fun

Re: Going off the BCP Question
I am going off in a couple more months, I spoke to my Dr. about it. He said that the only reason to wait is for you to learn your cycle. But he actually advised trying right after stopping BCP because you are very fertile then!

Re: Going off the BCP Question
i don't have the same miserable cycles (every 21 days, then bleeding for 7-10 days) as i did before BCP, but, my skin looks like i'm in 8th grade again. i have not enjoyed being off bcp for that reason. i also didn't get AF on bcp. the only reason i went off before we were ready to TTC was to get to know my cycle. As others have said, that's really the only reason why it can be helpful. but there's no reason not to TTC right away if ur ready.

Re: Going off the BCP Question
When I went off m cycles went normal right away - 28 days like clockwork. My cycles were not as regualr on BCP but I was taking a progesterone only one.

Re: Going off the BCP Question
My skin looks like I'm 12 and my af came within 17 days the first cycle now I am waiting to see what this month will bring. I have been super hormonal too. Before bc my periods lasted forever. 12 years later I'm trying to figure out what my body is doing. I could also be preggo since we started trying right after I stopped bc but right now its a waiting game.
