Going off Bottle Cold Turkey - tips needed

If you had your DC switch from bottle to sippy cup cold turkey, how did you do it??? Any tips would be helpful and appreciated!

Re: Going off Bottle Cold Turkey - tips needed

Working on this now. DS will not drink milk from anything but a bottle.

One thing that sometimes works, I give him 2 different sippies and let him choose which, he protest and I tell him, no bottle, milk in cup. Sometimes he flat out refuses and sometimes hell drink from a cup.

Morning seems to be easiest. I'm trying to figure out how to be more consistent about it without traumatizing me or him.

I told him several times that Mommy will be taking away the Ba-ba. I know he had no real clue what I was saying, but I did it anyways LOL. I told him that only babies drink out of ba-bas, and he will be drinking out of a big boy cup...and showed him his sippy. I at first still gave him a bottle at night... but that was only for a week. The morning bottles were rough for the first day or two, but one he realized that there was milk in his sippy, and Mommy wasn't going to give in...he eventually caught on. I got to admit...that week was NOT fun at all. He would just cry for his bottle .... and keep saying baa baaa! After a full week passed, I just gave him a sippy at night time, he took it, and then all the bottles were gone. I know b/c he was so easy, my 2nd child is going to be total opposite LOL

i've been doing sippys with water all along and bottles with bm. i started doing milk in a different sippy and only that sippy for like a week or two. then just pulled the bottles lunch first. then breakfast and dinner together. the kids never even flinched bc they get food then anyway

We just never gave DD milk in a bottle. We introduced it in a sippy & she took it great.
