Go Pro? If you have one...

...can you give me some insight?

DH has shown interest in one of these before but not sure if it was because it was a new gadget and he loves gadgets...so looking at it again for this xmas - trouble is that there seems to be more choices on the market and they do more?

So if you have one what model and what do you use it for? Worth it?
TIA

Re: Go Pro? If you have one...

I just ordered the basic model for DH to start with. $129.
It is waterproof and we will use it on vacation, especially while snorkeling and doing water sports. I also bought the float stick that goes with it.
Takes great underwater pics and video, our friend has one, that's where DH got the idea he wanted one.

If it were for me, I would have bought a more advanced model. Chat Icon

If you order from GoPro direct, they offer free 2 day shipping.

I bought DH GOPro Hero 4 in silver for christmas last year. I went with that one because it has video the older models only take pictures. He loves it and I got him more accessories this year.

Re: Go Pro? If you have one...

Thank you both so much. So you basically use it for most sporty stuff? Safer than a camera or regular camcorder - is this because they use it with a head attachment? totally clueless......

We have the original. It's ok but the quality in the video is so much better now. My co worker bought the highest end model for a diving trip in Australia and the video is amazing.

Re: Go Pro? If you have one...

I use my DSL a lot, but am always worried about sand and salt water. Keep it in a zip lock bag in my dry gear bag when not using it.
Last year I but a waterproof Nikon point and shoot, but the underwater shots came out crappy.
The GoPro is tiny compared to both, I wanted to get the wrist mount as well for snorkling, but they were sold out.
Wet activities is where we will use it most.

I have the Hero4 - my mom gave it to us as a gift and I used it on a weeklong kayaking trip in whitewater rapids. The quality is top notch.

I've yet to actually edit the hours of film I have so I can't comment on the ease/user-friendliness of that.

Ditto! It's a fantastic little camera. Takes great pics and video! It's expensive but worth it and has great potential for accessories so it's like the gift that keeps on giving. Chat Icon

My husband has the hero3 and he loves it. He set it up to take pics every 15 seconds at a tailgate and the pics were so cool
