When I went to get my blood drawn yesterday, the lady at Quest told me that it is done at 16 weeks. I thought that seemed early.

I had an early glucose test at 12 weeks becuse of my weiht. Then I 'll have another on between 24-28 weeks. If I happen to fail that one then I'm back for the 3 hour test. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I havn't failed one yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me being that i probably just jinx myself.

Mine was at 27 weeks. I lucked out and got the lemon lime, it tasted like Sprite.

I am glad to see that everyone is having them later than 16 weeks. I just didnt want to go back to the lab so soon. I will ask my dr next monday, so that I will know when she does it.
Do you have a choice of the drink? If so, which kind do you recommend?

I think since you nearly fainted you might end up with one. Mine was done when an unrelated blood test showed a glucose in the 30's. The first was normal but now I'm diet-controlled gestational diabetic.

I didn't have a choice - they just brought it out to me. I had "cola" flavor. It tasted exactly like a cold cup of flat soda. So if you like that, its not bad. It's less than an 8 oz cup - so its really not that bad.

Is this something that is done at your doctor's office or did you have to go to a lab like Quest to have this test? How far in advance do you need to make your appointment. I'm 19 weeks and my OBGYN hasn't said anything about scheduling this yet... should I ask or wait until my next appointment which is in another month?

mine was in the doctors office, but they do draw blood so if you typically have to go to a lab for that then yours would probably be done at he lab.
I think you still have plenty of time. Its generally not done until you 24 -28 weeks so I'm sure your fine waiting until your next appointment to ask about it.

Yuck is the word! I had mine done at 26 weeks as well. They did it in my doctor's office. I also had the nasty orange flavor - they didn't give me a choice of flavors, that was it.
