ginger ale?

I manage to stay away from all kinds of soda, but ginger ale seems to always make me feel ok. I don't drink a lot of it but I will have a glass for dinner or sip some throughout the day, water as well. Is too much ginger ale bad for you? I have heard it can cause heartburn and stomach issues and I have had some nights with really bad indigestion.
Besdies water and ginger ale, any other suggestions?

The sugars might give you some reflux, I know it can be a trigger for me. Also, just check that its caffine free (although I believe they all are)

Besides plain water you can flavor it with lemon, lime, orange. Flavored seltzers, or add some juice (orange or cranberry are my favorites) iced tea (I brew decaf and add a little splenda or sugar to take the bite off)

Re: ginger ale?

I have been drinking ginger ale too. I'm starting to feel better so I think I will start to slow down on drinking it.

Re: ginger ale?

Early on in my pregnancy sugar and/or bubbles made my nausea worse, even ginger ale. I'd drink seltzer, but the bubbles often upset my stomach. Now at the end of my pregnancy the bubbles usually just give me heartburn. So basically, I've stuck to water 90% of the time. But if ginger ale doesn't bother you, it's fine to have a glass a day. You won't want too much more since it's just empty calories and sugar.

Try water (add lemon, lime or orange for flavor), seltzer (flavored ones to change it up) and milk (for calcium!). One glass of juice or non-caffeinated soda per day is ok, too.

Re: ginger ale?

Flat ginger ale is great!!!! I drank it all through out my pregnancy. It calmed my stomach. I now have severe reflux and IBS and I still drink it flat and it works wonders..

ginger ale?

Root beer really helped me in the beginning. Just not Barq's bc of the caffeine. Also I couldn't get enough milk. I also wanted OJ but the acid can get to be a bit too much. If ginger ale is making you feel better then stick to the glass or two during the day. Once I hit the second trimester and the queasy feeling went away I stopped drinking root beer altogether and now it's water, milk, juice and iced tea.
