GHI for FDNY/NYPD: breast pumps?
DH is is a firefighter. We just called GHI to find out about breast pump coverage and were told that the NYC policy (CBP) was grandfathered and opted out of mandated coverage. How is this possible? Has anyone been able to get the pump covered? Has anyone called and received different information? I already had a fight with UHC this morning (my primary) because they told me that my employer opted out of the coverage as well. So much for a health mandate!

DH is a firefighter too...We haven't looked into this yet, but I will and if I get any other info I will share it with you.

MY DH is FDNY too but i didn't even know to look into this. I will, though, and will let u know what I hear.

GHI for FDNY/NYPD: breast pumps?
Most GHI city plans are the same. I am a teacher with the same plan as the other city workers I believe...and I previously posted on this. Pretty much I was told it was not covered unless it was medically necessary (the baby was in NICU or twins or something else gong on with the baby). So there was no way to try to get it covered before the baby was even here.

DH is also a city worker and I was told the exact same thing when I called a couple of months ago.
