GHI Copays

For those who have GHI, have you noticed the new policy whereby you have to pay a copay to visit the doctor's and an additional copay for each test they give you?

Ie. if you visit the gyno, you will pay potentialy $15 to see the doctor, $15 for an ultrasound and $15 for bloodwork? $45 total. :P

Does this apply to all GHI plans? Or just the basic plan?

I don't know if it is GHI but I had to pay one copay for the obgyn and one for a sono even when the dr did it in the past with a different insurance. No copay for bloods though.

Re: GHI Copays

I dont have ghi and if my son has any extra test done at ped office (like to ck fluid in ear) its an additional copay. The ped used this match stick looking thing to cortorize little spot and it was a copay. Same for me if i got a sono if was an extra copay and bloodwork i got a copay bill in the maul. Its been this way

Exactly this. Most insurance is like this.
I have GHI and had DD 3 years ago and had to pay seperate copays for every soon, blood test, NST test, etc.
This is not new.

For 1 visit? So if you see your gyno and he does bloodwork and a sono in 1 visit, you have to pay $45?

I don't have GHI, but I never heard of this.

Although I never had my gyno do blood work but he has done a sono.

It's always been like that for me too. The lab is separate from the Drs office so it's a separate copay.

I don't have a copay when I just see my doctor. Only if they do a sono. I have the basic GHI plan.

Re: GHI Copays

My copay is also $15 for the basic plan.

The nurse at my gyno office just me about the new policy. I don't know if they weren't aware and haven't been billing extra copays or if this additional copay applies only to certain GHI plans.

Weird.

Every plan is different.
It depends what your employer pays for etc

For pregnancy - you just pay one copay for Dr visits and then copays for the sonos and lab tests.

This. I was just there last week for a sono and OB visit. No copay for the OB visit, and $15 for the sono.

I think there are different GHI plans.

I also don't pay a copay for DDs well visits, but do pay an extra $15 for tests done by the ped. Then I get a bill from the lab as well. Chat Icon
