getting newborn twins on the same schedule

This may seem like a dumb question...

I was wondering what this actually means. Do you feed them both simultaneously, or one after the other? If you bottle feed them at the same time, do you use the boppy pillow? Bouncy seat? Something else?

I feed them together. I prop them in the bobby pillows to bottle feed them both. Right now I BF dd and prop ds in a bobby. Every once in a while they don't eat at the same time but it is rare.

It's about getting them onto a feeding schedule and from there into a sleeping schedule. Check out my site for great schedules that I offer.

Re: getting newborn twins on the same schedule

Same schedule to me means within a few minutes of each other. I often fed them both at the same time, but also would feed one right after the other sometimes. There are a few ways i fed both at the same time. When they were really little i would sit cross legged and hold one baby in each leg and feed them that way. As they got bigger i could sit on the couch one leg over the other, hold one baby there in my lap and one on the boppy pillow next to me. I also had a pregnancy body pillow that zipped up into a pillow nest for the babies, i could lay them down in there side by side and feed that way. A lot of people prop the bottles but i never did. Lucky for me they learned how to hold their own bottles so now they lay in their boppies and feed themselves, with a little assistance from me (like if they drop it). You will get your own system down once they are born, i was nervous too before they were born but when they come you don't have a choice, and you just make it happen.Chat Icon
If one baby woke up to eat i would always wake the other to keep the schedules. This was hard as they got older and one baby could sleep through most of the night, and the other still woke a few times. I still woke the good sleeper in fear that right when i would fall back to sleep she would wake up and be hungry. So that was frustrating for a little bit.

Re: getting newborn twins on the same schedule

All multiple moms that I talked to before I had my twins told me that getting the babies on the same schedule was crucial...I totally think they were right!
I started feeding them at the same time from day one. I also put them to bed (at night and for naps) at the same time. If they aren't on a schedule, you will constantly be feeding babies and never have any time to get things done.
I used the Boppys in the beginning and now feed them in their high chairs.

Thank you all so much for your advice. I am on bed rest right now and beginning to go a little nutty thinking about all the logistics!

depending on the situation at that feeding i would always feed my babies together or one right after the other.

if i was alone and it was hard to feed them at the same time i would feed one after the other. you will figure out the easiest way to feed them together. i would use the boppys, the bouncy seats, one in a boppy and one in my lap etc. it is a lot of trial and error until you figure out what works best for you and the babies.
you will figure it out! good luckChat Icon

Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!!!

We formula fed and woke the other baby when one woke up. I propped them both on their boppys and then used a bottle feed boppy (you can get them online) or just put the burp cloth under the bottle to prop it for them to suck on. I then would watch and burp as needed and then back to bed. Only way to keep you sanity.
