Getting a masters degree in a different subject?

I have a bachelors degree in social sciences. I was considering going and getting a degree in marketing. Would I go for a second bachelors or a masters?

Getting a masters degree in a different subject?

You can do either. I will say a masters holds more weight than a bachelors these days.

Masters. Have you looked into jobs you are interested in to see if you really need another degree.

I'd go for the MBA.
I have a Bachelors in Marketing and I don't feel (IMO) it prepared me for anything specific. Unless you have a certain career in mind which requires this degree.

Go for the Masters, but I will add to try and get a job without it and see if your new company will pay for your MBA.

I would try and go for the Masters. I have my BA in Psych but went back for my Masters in Education.

Masters. It's a higher degree. It looks better than having a second bachelors.

I second the MBA... It will open more opportunities for you and companies like to see a business background. I was a Communications major for undergrad and received my MBA with a concentration in Finance. The only thing i didnt like were all the pre-requisites i had to satisfy so i had to complete 63 credits instead of the usual 30.

AGREE, bc a masters is very $$ make sure you need one first. I would try and get a job with a company you would like to work for or even volunteer in the field, which looks good on a resume too.

or see what you would need in order to get a BA in marketing using old credits

Good luck

Thank you for the advice. I just lost my job but am very lucky in the fact I am getting a very big severance so I have the opportunity to pay for some schooling. I think a masters is the way to go Chat Icon
