Get a criminal check done on your babysitters....please.
Tonight my husband and i had the scare of a lifetime. Tonight we came home to our babysitter (who we've used many times and got through multiple recommendations of friends) high on stollen painkillers. My 3 year old was left alone having defecated and peed on the floors of my house multiple times (thank GOD she is ok). My house was rifled through and items and money were stolen. She was arrested in my house and taken to the ER where she is currently detoxing.
I feel incredibly foolish and blame myself for not being more diligent in my background check. We trusted this woman. She babysits for many many people in our town. Now others are realizing she's stolen from them too. Personal recommendations ARE NOT ENOUGH. Please, please, please double check your caregivers. I NEVER want to see someone go through what we just did.

I'm so sorry that happened! A coWorker of my has a very similar story except the babysitter (college student) left the house and his 4yr old home alone. He came home to the door wide open and every single light on. His son and yorkie were hiding under the covers.

I am so sorry you went through this!
Speak to the assistant district attorney assigned to the case and make sure she is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is disgraceful and horrifying.

I'm so sorry that happened. Stories like this are why I don't think I'll ever be able to use a babysitter that's not family. I don't trust anyone, apparently with good reason! I hope she does a good amount of time for this, what a POS!!!

Omg I am so incredibly sorry this happened to your family. Hugs to all of you. I would reach out to the assistant district attorney on monday morning to make sure the individual is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We have had our nanny for two years and i still check my cameras all the time... I literally have one in everyroom and get them streamed to my phone. I even call her and tell her that im looking at the cameras when im at work. Helps to keep her on her toes!
