snack- same everyday. cheese stick 80cal and a fiber one bar 90 cal

Re: GD Pros
I lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks.. The nutritionist said it was normal but my OBGYN may not be happy bc I hadnt gained that much to begin with. I just went back for the 2 week check up and she upped my intake a little. She also said it was very important to eat all the carbs she gave me, as i skipped the lunch carb sometimes if i was having a salad.

Re: GD Pros
I didn't have to do calories but either count carbs or know what portions from the nutrition value on the box of what I was eating.
I had to keep carbs in am up to 15 , snack 15, lunch btwn 45 and 60, snack 15, dinner 45-60 and snack 15. That made it easier for me. Maybe they can change you to that since counting calories seem hard to do.
I didn't gain for 2 months, my friend lost 10 lbs but as long as you are eating and don't feel starving I think that's ok. I think tweaking the menu is part of the process. Good luck.

Re: GD Pros
I don't count calories at all. I just stay within the recommended carbs for each meal (30 g for breakfast, 18 for a.m. snack, 45-50 for lunch, 30-35 for snack, 50 for dinner and 30 for snack). I gained a decent amount of weight prior to the GTT, but it has definitely leveled off since changing my diet. I feel like there are enough things to worry about with the testing, timing of eating and limiting carbs without having to go crazy over calories.

Re: GD Pros
I don't really pay much attention to the calories either. I pay attention to the carbs and my #'s. I've lost 13lbs since getting pregnant, but since I was overweight to begin with my OB/GYN is fine with it. I think as long as your #'s are good, and you're not feeling hungry, you're doing good...

Re: GD Pros
I just realized you didn't mention your blood levels I'm assuming those are controlled with the diet they gave you

Re: GD Pros
My levels are usually 83-110. Im usually hungry an hour later. I do drink a gallon of water a day. I guess im use to eating more fruit and high fiber meals. Im gettin less than 30grams of fiber a day which in the past i was havin way more than that. Maybe she will add more starch and veggies for breakfast & more veggies for lunch and dinner. Plus im active. I do lots of walkin and prenatal pilates.

funny you say that because that is who my SIL used and they were so strict with her and she wasnt IMO getting enough food so her "BIG" baby was 4lb 10 oz. also.
I have GD also and my diet controlled is almost 8lbs already at 39 weeks.
I felt like they were starving her to keep the baby small.

Re: GD Pros
I have to say I'm a juvenile diabetic for 21years now and have been reading all of the posts about GD lately....there are so many of you that have it. I just wanted to say you guys impress me so much bc I am not nearly as stringent with my diet as any of you (granted I do wear an insulin pump 24/7 and am monitored closely by my Hugh risk doctor). Regardless, clearly my diabetes and yours are completely different beasts. Wanted to wish you all a healthy rest of your 9 months and healthy and happy (& maybe big ) babies! My first three were giants....
