GD One-Hour Test
They draw blood one-hour from the time you finish the drink correct? Or one hour from when you start drinking it?
I was at the lab yesterday for b/w for my thyroid and mentioned I had to come back today for the GD test and the lab tech gave me the drink to bring home and drink - so I don't want to screw up the timing.

i dont know about that. My office does it in house, meaning when you get there they give you the drink and once finished wait an hr. Maybe drink it while in the car while going to the office and let them know as soon as you get there how long it's been. I always found it odd that offices let you take it home. The nurse at my office watches you whie you take it and you have 10 minutes to drink it.

I went to a lab to do it and the lady gave me the drink and told me to come back when I had finished it and they started timing from there.
A girl in my office they gave her the drink the day before and told her just to take note of the time she finished drinking it and make sure she was at the lab before the hour was up.

I had to start the drink and finish it within 5 minutes and note the exact time I finished. They need to draw the blood one hour to one hour ten minutes after you finish but drinking it within 5 minutes is key as well.

My doctor said I had to drink it within 15 minutes and to let them know the exact time you finish. The test is exactly 1 hr from when you finish.
Does it matter what you eat/drink beforehand?

They test your blood one hour after you've finished drinking it. I would arrive at least 15 minutes before your hour is up so you have time to let them know that you drank it and give them time to get your blood. You don't want to have to do it again!

I had mine handed to me, and the nurse watched me like a hawk during the 3 minutes that I had to drink the drink.......
Then they handed me a timer which was to go off in an hour, I sat in the waiting room, and as soon as it went off, I walked in for my bloodwork...
