GD ladies
I have a question about your testing. I currently have to test 1 hour after each meal and have a reading under 120. For me to reach this, I'm basically carb free. Everything I've read says that you should be under 140 an hour after and under 120 2 hours after. This is also what my friend in NJ does. I am concerned b/c I also test my ketones and this morning I got a light reading, where I usually get negative, which means my body is breaking down stored fat. Normally would be great, but probably not when you're pregnant. I don't want to question the doctors, but I'm not eating the carbs they tell me to b/c I can't keep in their limits. I'm worried about taking meds too just b/c I am not a meds person.
So my question is does everyone else have to be under 120 after 1 hour? TIA

Re: GD ladies
I am required to be under 90 fasting, and under 120 TWO hours after meals. I don't think there's any chance i'd be under 120 ONE hour after a meal either!! i would definitely double check on that... i know its tough to question a doctor but that really doesn't make sense to me based on things i've read too.

Re: GD ladies
Thanks ladies, it's written on everything so I know she meant it, but it's ridiculous. I was only 97 1 hour today, so I can do it, but it doesn't seem healthy. I called them today about it, so I'll see what they have to say.

Re: GD ladies
My one friend has to be under 120 after meals too...she is a type 1 diabetic but she struggles terribly and has to load herself up with insulin to get that number.

Re: GD ladies
I met my dietician and she said 2 hours after meals is 120, now I am at the hospital and the same thing. Seems like a near impossibility to be under 120 after 1 hour. Is this your Dr or a dietitians telling you this info?

It's the dietician, and my OB warned me they were very strict.

Re: GD ladies
That seems like very strict guidelines. You may end up on insulin if that is really what they are looking for, but I think that 120 an hour after meals is kind of ridiculous. I was like PP, had to be under 140 after an hour and never had an issue.

Re: GD ladies
i just went to the class and they said you have to have carbs... they tell you certain grams of them in each meal, because they baby is made from glucose, so if you take out carbs its not healthy for the baby!!! thats why they give you meal plans,,, and they test you urine because they want to see if your taking in the right amount of carbs!!
