You will get a wide range. Depends on size of house and how your house is insulated etc. also if people are energy conscious. Age of equipment also plays a huge part.

Gas+ electric bills
In the winter electric is like $75-100. Gas around $200. We have two heating zones and don't really use the upstairs so I leave that on like 64. First floor we have it set on like 65 when not home and 70-72 when we are home. We are adding a third zone when the basement is done.I'm not very conservative when it comes to our utilities. I do several loads of laundry a week, I leave the light on for the animals at all times, Christmas lights on for hours during this season...
Edited to add we have gas heat.
Also I want to add that the gas is an estimate bc our meter is in the house and we are never home during the day to let con ed in and I never call in on time so I let it accumulate but that's about the avg. no more than that.

We are on a budget for Electric - it's $190 a month For gas - we use heat and dryer. In the winter months its about $100 in the warmer months about $30 or less.
We have a 4 bedroom Colonial...on the smaller size. We are not energy conscious at all.

Re: Gas+ electric bills
We have a four bedroom home. Last month gas was $150. During the summer it is $10. In January, I think last year it was $195. Electric is usually higher in the summer and lower in the winter. I am not sure what that bill is because my husband gets it electronically, so I don't see it. But I think it is about $100.

We don't have gas but our electric is typically between $60 and $90 in summer with ac on. We have a small house and do try hard to be energy conscious.

I am not on budget billing, and in Jan Feb we run about $300-$400 for both. There is always one month in the winter where gas is CRAZY high (we have gas heat) and electric is super low. But then in the summer we always have that one month where electric is CRAZY high and gas is super low so it balances out.

You will see on the electric bill if it is say... $175 for one month, there will be a section that says.. send $150 and we will put you on budget billing. That means you will pay the same amount each month, and then at the end of the year, they will adjust amount owed based on how much you used each month.
We do not do it so that's all I really know about it.. maybe someone who does it can comment a little more on it.

what does everyone mean "we are on budget for electric"? The electric company offers a program where either based on your last year actual use or the prior resident actual use, the electric company will take all twelve months of bills, add them up, and then divide that total by twelve. That number is what people pay each month instead of actual use bill. At the end of the year, the utility will bill you or credit you if you are over/under the estimated bill. For people who want to know they can budget X for the bill it can simplify their bills. I personally pay actual use.

We finally did this after 4 years. It was asking for $199. SO we sent that. We started in January. Then by summer it was asking for $99 because winter we didnt use much, but we know we over use in summer. We continued the $199 to keep up. NOW out bill has been $400 a month for the past 2 months!! Catching up to summer time
We may stop the balanced billing if it doesn't readjust next month because it's bullsh*t lol

Electric $13* (Solar $126) My average per year with solar was $161. Peak electric probably was around 250 in winter months and 175 area in summer because of pool/central air.
Gas - Most I've ever paid in winter is $250 to $00. Summer typically dips down to 30. We have gas stove/oven/dryer/hot water heater.

Our electric bills on balanced billing were $250/month. We went solar and now it is about $13/month. We don't use gas but our oil is about $300 3x a year.
We have a 3000 SF home and are using energy efficient lighting in the main living areas. We have 4 adults and 2 children. We also have 2 fridges and a deep freezer.

this is what I am afraid of! getting a $400 bill a few months in a row haha I don't want to get hit with a crazy bill at the end of the year when i need the $$ for xmas.
I didn't realize it would adjust a few times a year too... I wonder if anyone at the end of the year hasn't gotten a big bill like that to "catch up"

The budget plan is adjusted monthly IF you are using so much energy that it's going to make you owe over a hundred dollars or so at the end of your balanced billing period. So you might start out at $100, but then are sucking energy like crazy, so naturally it's going to go up to balance out at the end of the year.

We don't do balanced billing for electric. I like paying what we used and we get a bill every 60 days. On average it's around $120/month for an 1800 sf house.
We use Oil heat and that can be about $350 every couple of months in the winter depending. I locked in at $2.19/gallon for the next year, so I'm happy with that considering they just said it may cost more to heat the home this winter.

We had the opposite and actually had a ZERO bill for this month because we paid more than our actual usage.
We pay $235 a month on the budget billing.
