Fussy/gassy baby

Is there a formula other than Enfamil Gentlease or Nutramigen (sp?) that you use for your gassy/fussy baby? The Gentlease seemed to give DD diarrhea at 2/3 weeks, so we went back to Similac. I've heard Nutramigen works wonders, but that it's also expensive. Is there anything in between? I plan to ask the ped. tomorrow, but I was wondering what others use.

I went from similac to enfamil gentlease because she was soo constipated on the similac. With the gentlease she poops everyday and farts away happily all dayChat Icon

Maybe you should try the gentlease for awhile until it has a chance to settle in. My ped said it could take 2-3 weeks for a formula like that to work correctly. He also said, though, that switching formula too much can make things worse.Chat Icon

See, I feel like the dr. will tell me to try the Gentlease again. And maybe I should. But dd poops every day and USUALLY has no trouble passing gas. Believe me, she could compete with her father. But it's obvious lately that sometimes it's painful. I just wish she could tell me what exactly is bothering her. Chat Icon

How long was she on the Gentlease?

It took my DS about 7-10 days before we saw a difference.

If DC does need Nutramigen, insurance may cover it.

Re: Fussy/gassy baby

We just switched my one daughter to Gentlease, it takes time. The first few days expect the problem to get worse not better...their systems have to get used to the different formula. You should see an improvement in 7-14 days.

Same thing happened with my son...took 2 weeks on the gentlease, no change, even MORE gas then boom, like a different baby.

I wouldnt ever switch without giving it at least 5 days....

Good luck!

Re: Fussy/gassy baby

My DD is also on Similac Sensitive and is having issues with pooping we are now giving her an oz of water twice a day to help her system push it out instead of binding her up.
If I have to switch formula I will try the good start I think they make it in RTF that is what I use now with the similac.

They say the proteins are broken down smaller for there system to digest easier.
