Re: Ok I think I want to move out east.. can anyone give me info on coram?
The drive from Coram to Huntington is at least about a 1/2 hour or more. But I don't know about the schools over here. I grew up in Commack.
Hope this helps Hey maybe you can take my apartment at AvalonPines since I'm moving LOL

Re: Changed post DH will not move to coram so I need opinions about what suffolk towns are good , safe and have a good school district.
We moved out of the selden area last nov...
I went to Middle Country School District, (some parts of Coram, Selden and Centereach).. they were a "good/safe" school district a year or two ago... Sachem & Comsewogue are good districts, I taught in Mount Sinai high school and LOVED the district, not a lot of violence..
Your best bet is to look for the website that reports about schools... they actually gove "school report cards".... My realtor on LI had given me the address when we were still looking up there..
Also, not a lot of people know this, but when you are thinking of relocating, if you get permission, you can schedule a tour of the schools your child will be attending through the years, and sometime sit in like an "observation" style to see how the classes are.. (common for elementary), and if not an actual sit-in, most principals will set you up on a tour and explain curriculum a little further.. You'd be surprised to know what they will share as long as you ask.. If you cant find the school report card grades, call a realtor and ask them-- most reputable realtors know of the site...
  Good Luck!

My parents live in a nice neighborhood in South Setauket, and are in the Three Village School District. The LIE and 347 are both easily reachable.
ETA: They have a great yard.

Look into Nesconset, Commack, E. Northport, Northport, Elwood, Dix Hills, Smithtown, St. James, Kings Park. With your budget you are really unlimited as to where you can live. If you do a search on Newsday.com for School report card you may be able to fuind the listing they do every year on the school districts and narrow it down from there.

I checked elwood and the northports cant touch them- they are expensive. you know why cause we need 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, I checked msli thanks to scott and the houses were eh. I love love victorian houses and if we move from this home that we love it has to be our dream house, I noticed that further out east the property is huge and many victorians. but I could be wrong, I only checked on msli. but the backyard has to be huge I dont know measurements , I should post what I saw in coram so you guys have an idea what Im looking for. thank you all!!!

  What about Shorham?
IMO the best areas of suffolk are Smithtown, Dix Hills, Northport, St. James, Nesconset and the ones said above....
