Friends Q
What age are your friends?
Meaning...are they your age? Younger? Older? Mix?
and if they aren't your age, can you relate to them the same?

The ones I hang out with on a regular basis are all my age. But I have a lot of friends who are older than I am.

Re: Friends Q
I have a mix, a few are my age but most are a little older than me. I like it that way, when I ask for advice they give me good advice since they're married & w/ kids like me!

Re: Friends Q
I have a mix. But i have to say my younger friends act older.
I just cannot relate to young immature people...not what-so-ever.
I don't even know when this transition occured, since i used to be the young, immature person...But i just want to bang my head against the wall when i am around certain younger friends

Re: Friends Q
I have a very huge mix of friends
Some are up to 15 yrs old Some are up to 15 yrs younger
As long as we have something in common and are the same general "Type" of person, age means nothing to me

I agree! Age means nothing but if we have a good relationship then it's all good.

Re: Friends Q
Since I went back to school, now I ahve some friends who are 5 years younger...but they're not really close friends. I talk to them and we ahve classes and plays together, but we don't really have enough in common, in terms of activites we like, etc to hang out. 2 years younger is really the max age of people I really hang out with (at least they cna drink), and I have other friends who are up to 16 years older than I am. Being 23 and getting married next year is a different kind of 23 than the partygirl, bar every night 23, you know? So a lot of my friends are more serious people my age, or people who are a few years older. One of my very best friends is 37.

Re: Friends Q
ok maybe you are right, it isn't soo much an AGE thing as a maturity thing.
i have two friends that are 25, one acts older than me. The other...O M G boys boys boys, i will follow this one here and that one there (i can't even explain it but it goes beyond the boy thing)
But i do think age and maturity are linked

I do too ... I have very little tolerence for immaturity.
ETA: I do think you get to a certain age where it doesn't matter anymore ...

I do agree with this.. immaturity is a tough one, probably because I was VERY mature at 21 myself !
But as for age = immaturity.. while that is true in some cases, I've often found that some of THE MOST immature people I've known have been people my age (35ish) and maybe even older.. sad, but true
Prob THE MOST IMMATURE person I currently know is pushing 50, yes you read right a 50 yr old woman who is a total partying, sex crazed, nutcase loon. (I work w/her )

Re: Friends Q
I don't think age = maturity 100 % but I do think it plays a huge factor ... experience alone especially in your early 20's as you are finding yourself after living under your parents ideals/laws/dreams/world ... changes you dramatically. Yes, people can still act immature and make bad decisions but I think that's different.

yea i agree and i think like Flee said...some people, like my friend Erika, just never had that immaturity phase... She didn't. It is sooo weird. Yet my other friend Sharon...is now 28 but still acts like she is 21

Re: Friends Q
I have friends who are a few years older than I am who I can't take for their immaturity. it's not just being sex-crazed, or you know, what they do for fun, but more like thier actions toward other people (i.e selfishness), or justa reckless attitude. Since going back to school, especially I've met people who are so immature I can;t believe it. They're a few years younger than me, but I don't think I was that immature even at 18, or however old they are.

Re: Friends Q
My friends range in age, and I like it that way. Depending on my mood, I always have people who fit just perfect. WHne I wantto talk about starting a family I talk to my friends who are a little oldeer and have been there. They're great at giving me advice and putting me at ease about certain things. When I want to blow off some steam I have out with different friends who are still single and loving it. I've always had different age/types of friends and I like it that way.

Re: Friends Q
I was going to say that my friends are a mix but then I thought about it and realized that most of my friends are actually older or about the same age as me.
I agree that it's definitely a maturity thing more so than an age thing. With one or two friends in particular though, it's not even a maturity thing, it's more like they are in different places in their lives as I am so we don't hang out as much.
